You As An Accountant, General Will

• Perform daily general ledger tasks, including journal entries, accruals, and reconciliations
• Prepare monthly account reconciliations for balance sheet and income statement accounts
• Support the month-end close process (e.g., bank reconciliations, trial balances, and financial statements, costing analysis, etc)
• Assist with year-end close processes
• Maintain and reconcile sub-ledgers (e.g., AP, AR, payroll, loans, deposits, fixed capital assets, inventory, etc)
• Provide support to the Area Accountant as needed
• Offer backup and project-based support for AR, AP, inventory, and tax departments
• Assist with financial and tax audits by preparing documentation and supporting schedules
• Contribute to the development and integration of new processes and technologies
• Support budgeting and forecasting processes
• Train and support area leaders, the accounting team, and other departments as needed
• Report financials to the Area Accountant and VP as required
• Ensure compliance with internal controls, company policies, and relevant accounting standards
• Provide reporting and internal audit support to area and corporate finance teams
• Offer training and support for Texada software; develop a working knowledge of all modules to assist with internal queries
• Analyze financial variances and provide insights to management
• Maintain clean and organized system records (e.g., insurance files, project files, AR/AP data, etc.)
• Identify and recommend process improvements, reporting enhancements, and efficiency opportunities

This Is The Right Role For You If

• You have a bachelor’s degree in Commerce, Accounting, or Finance
• CPA designation (or enrollment) is considered an asset
• You have 3-5+ years of relevant accounting experience, preferably in a construction-based environment
• You are proficient with accounting software; Texada experience is a strong asset
• You have a solid understanding of provincial tax regulations
• You have strong written and verbal communication skills
• You have excellent analytical and problem-solving abilities with a high level of accuracy and attention to detail
• You are well-organized, proactive, and capable of working both independently and as part of a team
• You have the ability to thrive in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment
• You have advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel
