Community Disability Services Worker – Canada Summer Jobs
Lethbridge Family Services (LFS) is seeking a Community Disability Services Worker to join our team! This position will provide support in our DaCapo department. In this role, you will facilitate the development of skills and competencies to assist individuals with intellectual disabilities, brain injuries, and/or fetal alcohol spectrum disorders to pursue and achieve their goals by accessing meaningful community-based activities.

Community Disability Services Workers:
-
support individuals to participate in meaningful community-based employment, community and volunteer placements, recreation and leisure and life skills activities,
-
complete personal care routines which may include assistance with eating routines, administering medications, ostomy care and/or operating a mechanical lift,
-
support people with nonverbal communication methods,
-
promote healthy and active lifestyles,
-
assist with skill development in areas such as daily living activities and social interactions, and
-
complete required documentation.
Required skills and qualifications:
- meet Canada Summer Jobs Employee Criteria:
o - be between 15 and 30 years of age at the start of employment,
o -be a Canadian citizen, permanent resident, or person to whom refugee protection has been conferred under the Immigration and Refugee Protection Act for the duration of the employment, and
o - have a valid Social Insurance Number at the start of employment and be legally entitled to work in Canada in accordance with relevant provincial or territorial legislation and regulations.

a high school diploma and/or a minimum of one year experience in the field,
-
excellent verbal and written communication skills,
-
ability to work a flexible schedule and adapt to changes,
-
proficient use of technology and software used in a workplace, and
-
a reliable vehicle, valid driver’s license, registration, and insurance ($2,000,000 liability insurance)
Hours: 30 hours per week, Monday – Friday for 9 weeks
