As a Marketing Strategist you will be responsible for providing the strategic direction for marketing campaigns and plans for the City of Calgary's products, services and initiatives. You will oversee the implementation of the marketing strategies collaborating with other Customer Service & Communications (CSC) functional areas. Primary duties include:
- Use strong personal initiative to develop, oversee and manage the delivery of strategic marketing plans including situational analysis, competitor analysis, pricing strategies, target market insights, marketing recommendations, promotional / advertising campaigns, timelines, metrics and budgets.
- Oversee project management of marketing initiatives and campaigns providing guidance and performance feedback to the project team, managing vendors, assigning work, monitoring budget and schedules and ensuring deliverable quality.
- Consult and collaborate with clients, team members and senior management by providing expertise and advice on marketing products and services.
- Contribute to issues management and crisis response.
Qualifications
- A degree in Marketing, Commerce, Business or a related field with at least 6 years of progressively senior experience in marketing, business and strategic planning.
- Certified Marketing Management Professional, Accredited Business Communicator, Accreditation in Public Relations, or Communications and Advertising Accredited Professional Designations will be considered an asset.
- Membership in organizations such as: International Association of Business Communicators (IABC), Canadian Public Relations Society (CPRS), Calgary Marketing Association (CMA) and Interactive Advertising Bureau (IAB) will also be considered an asset.
- Success in this position requires expertise in writing, presenting and implementing strategic marketing plans by working in partnership with advertising to develop and grow a brand.
- You must be adept at writing for various audiences across all mediums.
- You have strong consulting and relationship-building skills along with marketing expertise to develop an in-depth understanding of client business unit outcomes and create strategic marketing plans based on research and analysis.
- You have strong marketing planning, project management, and research analysis abilities.
- You have well developed skills in business and political acumen, emotional intelligence, judgment, interpersonal dynamics and collaborative team leadership.

Workstyle
- This position may be eligible to work from home for at least part of the time as one of several flexible work options available to City employees. Such arrangements are based on the operational requirements of the position and employee suitability and are subject to change based on operational needs and corporate direction.
