Position: Senior Financial Analyst
Reports to: Controller

Position Description
Reporting to the Controller, the Senior Financial Analyst contributes to the Financial Reporting and Planning functions of the organization by performing research and analysis and presenting findings to Senior Management to support the development of long term strategic plans. The Senior Financial Analyst will report on operational change including identifying cost efficiencies and recommend improvements to strategic operational and financial performance of the organization. This position’s responsibilities include reporting financial and statistical data, business planning including the development of business cases with operational, financial and management issues, financial analysis, modelling and planning, systems maintenance and development.
Responsibilities
- Manage and maintain fixed assets ledgers and related GL accounts, including completing reconciliations and reporting. Ensuring proper accounting treatment across all fixed assets
- Work with project managers to gather information for project and cash forecasting
- Prepare program and project costing reporting and analysis
- Reconcile investments portfolio ensuring correct classification and reporting in the financial statements
- Prepare monthly account reconciliations including deferred revenues and deferred capital contributions
- Lead and coordinate grant reporting and complete related reconciliations
- Assist in the preparation and improvement of the financial forecasts, models and budgets
- Support the annual operating and capital budget process and rolling forecast updates
- Prepare, analyze, and review performance reports at a departmental and program level, including variance and scenario analysis
- Manage monthly revenue reporting including updating rolling forecasts
- Support the development of business cases with operational, financial and management issues including scenario analysis
- Advise Senior Management on strategic issues with financial and operational implications
- Report on operational change including cost efficiencies
- Provide recommendations to management on staffing and resource changes or improvements
- Monitor, evaluate and develop KPI reporting
- Provide management with visibility into performance results with relevant and timely analytics on a monthly, quarterly and annual basis
- Build and manage tools that provide visibility and transparency into financial and operational performance
- Support the period close process, including month-end and year-end working paper preparation
- System maintenance and enhancement, including participating in ERP implementation team
- Collaborate with peers and leaders across the organization to develop and refine financial analysis
- Contribute to the preparation of various analysis and presentations for senior management
- Investigate and resolve discrepancies in financial reports to ensure accuracy and consistency
- Operate within the philosophy, culture, and values of Science World
- Performs other related duties as required to fulfill any changing business needs of this role
Qualifications

CPA designation with a Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration or a Finance related degree

Minimum of 3-years relevant experience in Accounting/FP&A

Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, particularly in Excel and Sage 300

Excellent verbal and written communication skills

Exceptional accuracy and strong attention to detail

Ability to meet deadlines and to work independently in a multi-tasking environment

Positive attitude and team-oriented mindset

Ability to collaborate fluently with cross-departmental team

The pay range for this position is $75,000-$100,000 per year.
