Position Description:
The Finance Manager role reports to the Senior Director, Finance and is responsible for accounting transactions, financial processes, and reporting. A focus on and experience in financial planning, analysis and reporting is required.
Role Description:
Financial Planning and Analysis:
- Analyzing results, interpreting data, monitoring variances, identifying trends, making comparative analyses, and recommending actions
- Create financial models and reports for organizational decision support
- Assist with annual and quarterly actual, budgeting and forecasting processes and reporting
Contract Management and Billing:
- Overseeing the billing cycle for all new and re-occurring revenue streams
- Review sponsorship and other revenue generating contracts/agreements and establish appropriate billing and revenue recognition in line with contractual terms
- Prepare manual invoices (when needed) for all revenue streams, checking data and supporting approvals, resolving discrepancies, and data entry
- In collaboration with other departments maintain up to date contract management system to track and report on actual, forecasted and budgeted revenues
- Prepare monthly commission reporting for sales team
- Successfully interact directly and independently with a variety of internal and external stakeholders on all aspects of contract management and billing
Accounts Receivable and Collections:
- Responsible for monitoring receipt of payments and application through Microsoft B365
- Responsible for ensuring regular tracking of account aging and follow up activities to support timely collections
- Reconcile accounts, verify and balance data, and complete month-end and year-end entries and adjustments
- Provide reports/statements to third parties as required to manage accounts
- Correspondence with members, sponsors, other third parties and employees as needed in a professional and collaborative manner to resolve any billing or payment issues
General ledger and accounting close :
- Responsible for completion of the month-end, quarter-end and year-end accounting close process for all revenue streams, accounts receivable, miscellaneous assets and other requirements as needed
Reporting and other duties as required:
- Support the Senior Director, Finance with management reporting on an on-going basis.
- Support implementation and adherence to strong accounting, financial, compliance and risk management policies, practices, and procedures across the organization.
- Support a culture of continuous improvement and assist in implementing these improvements.
- Support annual financial statement preparation and audit process in compliance with Canadian generally accepted accounting principles.
- Other ad-hoc duties as required.
Your experience includes:
- 5-10 years of financial experience in an accounting/finance role responsible for general ledger management and financial analysis is required
- CPA, CGA, CMA, CA, or other accounting designation is an asset
- The following are considered assets for this role:
- Experience with the Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central accounting system
- Strong financial modelling skills
- Strong MS Office skills
