The Opportunity!
Reporting to the Human Resources and Operations Manager, the Human Resources Generalist provides technical expertise in the following key functional areas: recruitment and selection, onboarding and orientation, administering performance appraisal process, maintaining our HRIS, overseeing benefits and regular HR administration. The Human Resources Generalist will work closely with the HR team to promote a healthy workplace, fostering staff growth, connection, development, and engagement.

Responsibilities:
Human Resources Information System (HRIS):
- Ensure data is accurately entered and maintained on ADP Workforce Now.
- Ensure accurate and comprehensive personnel and payroll information is provided to Payroll department.
- Prepare regular and ad-hoc reports.
Recruitment and Selection:
- Prepare job postings for internal and external distribution.
- Implement interview process, including shortlisting of resumes, pre-screening of candidates, assisting with development of interview questions, participating on interview panels, scheduling interviews and reference checking.
- Prepare employment contracts.
- Ensure all aspects of recruitment and selection processes comply with FST policy and relevant legislation.
Human Resources Administration:
- Administer exit interview process.
- Maintain all HR records in Docushare.
- Ensure completion of Criminal Record Checks/Vulnerable Sector Checks and manage follow-ups for timely renewals.
- Draft and issue employment-related letters such as employment verification, resignation, retirement and termination letters.
- Maintain and organize employee files and HR documentation in accordance with company policies and legislative requirements.
- Prepare employment contracts for internal staff changes in an accurate and timely manner.
- Prepare performance reviews for the 360-appraisal process.
Onboarding and Orientation:
- Administer onboarding through ADP Workforce Now.
- Conduct new hire orientation sessions.
- Provide benefits orientation.
- Ensure completion of onboarding paperwork.
Joint Job Evaluation Committee:
- Take meeting notes and record evaluation outcomes.
- Track and update job evaluation records and maintain documentation.
Joint Health and Safety Committee:
- Accurately document meeting minutes and record key decisions and action items.
- Post approved meeting minutes to the intranet system in a timely and organized manner to ensure accessibility and transparency.
Qualifications:
- Post-secondary degree in Human Resources or related field or equivalent combination of experience and education; CHRP designation is an asset. Foreign experience is valued.
- Minimum of 3 to 5 years of progressive experience in human resources, labor relations experience is an asset.
- Experience working with ADP Workforce Now is an asset.
- Excellent communication skills, interpersonal skills and ethics.
- Resourceful, problem-solving aptitude and thorough knowledge of HR best practices.
- Advanced knowledge of MS Office, HRIS systems, and comfortable learning new technical systems as needed.
- Demonstrated commitment to principles of social justice, anti-oppression, and equity and inclusion.
- Satisfactory criminal reference check with Vulnerable Sector Search completed within the past 12 months.
