What You Will Get To Do
The successful candidate will have a positive impact on our corporate culture by demonstrating the Town’s CARE core values (Collaborative, Accountable, Respectful, Engaged) through daily interactions with individuals at all levels of the organization, external contacts and elected officials.
By effectively building positive rapport and relationships both internally and externally, the successful candidate will help us achieve our mission that together we deliver services that make a difference in our community.
Reporting to and under the direction of the Sr. Manager of Revenue and Taxation the Accounts Receivable Clerk is responsible for:
- Preparing Town-issued accounts receivable invoices within the WorkDay Finance system, reviewing invoice entries generated from internal departments and verification of billing details and HST applicability before printing and distribution
- Tracking and monitoring agreements related to the lease/rental of Town-owned properties- issuing invoices for rent, utility, property tax and other various charge backs to tenants in a timely manner
- Provide Customer Service for receivables including receiving resident/customer/tenant inquiries and providing responses and payment options
- Review electronic payments for accounts receivable and process entries
- Creating monthly interest applications and preparing monthly statements of account
- Analyzing and reviewing aged accounts receivable; collaborating with departments to follow up on outstanding accounts for collections
- Review and update collection policy as required to continue with successful collection of overdue accounts
- Assist with Property Tax receivables and collection
- Completes account reconciliations for all accounts receivable and related revenue accounts
- Prepares monthly, quarterly and annual financial reports
- Assists with year end and audit preparation and auditor requests for accounts receivable and related revenue accounts
- Providing general administrative and financial accounting support; including Data entry, journal entries and reconciliation :
- other related duties assigned.

What You Bring To Our Team
As the successful applicant, you must possess:
- a 2-year post-secondary diploma in Accounting or Finance.
- a minimum of three (3) years related experience in an accounts receivable billing and collection function.
- work experience in the municipal finance and/or municipal tax environment considered and asset.
- completion or enrolment in the Municipal Accounting and Finance Program (MAFP), AMCTO Certification and/or the Municipal Tax Administration (MTAP), would be an asset.
- solid understanding of HST/GST/PST rules
- intermediate level computer skills in Microsoft Excel and Word
- attention to detail and a high level of accuracy are necessary and strong organizational skills to establish timelines and meet deadlines
- experience with the Workday financial system would be considered and asset
- Excellent interpersonal skills to be able to establish effective working relationships with staff together with well-developed communications skills to convey information in a clear and concise manner.
- ability to provide advice and guidance to all levels of staff regarding accounts receivables.
- strong reasoning, mathematical and analytical skills.
