Job Description:

ACCOUNTABILITIES:

  1. Client Care:
  • Actively supervise residents in the facility and in the community as required in a lawful, safe, and expedient manner.
  • Monitor the activities of the clients and maintain availability for personal, practical, and moral support.
  • Participate in development and implementation of case plans
  • Report to Caseworker client progress, changes and/or regression in the client’s status.
  • Complete duties, reports, and logs as per shift description.
  • Deal with interpersonal relationships within Cuthbert House in a therapeutic manner.
  • Challenge and address criminal conduct and thinking.
  • Assist clients to address their criminogenic issues as required.
  • Refer clients to outside resources and counseling when needed.
  • Follow policies and procedures of Cuthbert House, The Salvation Army and the Ministry of Children, Community and Social Services.

2.Health & Safety:

  • Assume delegated responsibility for the facility when assigned.
  • Deal with serious incidents and crisis in a safe and therapeutic manner.
  • Communicate and enforce facility rules while maintaining discipline and safety.
  • Supervise the delivery of medication and ensure residents are provided with appropriate medical attention as required.
  • Maintain a high level of client care and complete duties in the facility such as housekeeping, serving meals etc.
  • Participate as an active member of the Joint Health & Safety Committee.

MANAGERIAL/TECHNICAL LEADERSHIP RESPONSIBILITY:

  • Reports directly to: Director. The Senior Case Manager functions as a team lead providing direction on tasks and support to this position.
  • Direct reports for this position: None.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Completion of a formal post-secondary/college diploma program of 2 academic years in Social Service Work, Corrections, and/or Childcare.
  • Drivers licensed
  • Protected B clearance
  • Alternative combinations of education and experience may be considered.

Experience and Skilled Knowledge Requirements

  • More than 1 year of prior related experience in in the Corrections field.
  • Experience working with youth is preferred.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office and other data management software
  • Fluency in the French language preferred.
  • Develop an understanding and support for the mission and purpose of The Salvation Army in Canada and its implications as related to position responsibilities.

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills - clear and simple to understand
  • Able to proactively recognize potential risks and issues, respond with solutions.
  • Attention to detail, problem solving and analytical skills.
  • Strong sense of integrity and confidentiality with professional ethics and a balanced sense of fairness and flexibility.

Compensation:

The target hiring range for this position is $23.28 to $29.10 with a maximum of $34.92.

Placement in the salary range will be based on factors such as market conditions, internal equity, and candidate experience, skills, and qualifications relevant to the role.
