Job Description

As a Principal Azure Cloud Developer on our Cloud Engineering team on a contract basis, you’ll architect and build the next-generation, containerized platform that powers IFS’s AI-driven decision analytics solutions. You’ll lead design and implementation of cloud-native patterns, serverless components, and container orchestration on Microsoft Azure, while evangelizing best practices and mentoring fellow developers.

Key Responsibilities

• Architect & Implement: Design robust, scalable Azure solutions—leveraging Kubernetes on AKS, serverless, and cloud-native services.
• Platform Development: Build and maintain microservices, CI/CD pipelines, and infrastructure-as-code (Bicep/Terraform) for our containerized platform.
• Best-Practice Evangelism: Define and codify Azure architecture guidelines, secure by design standards, and cost-optimization strategies.
• Knowledge Sharing: Lead knowledge sharing sessions, code reviews, and hack-sessions to upskill the team in cloud-native development.
• Cross-Functional Collaboration: Work closely with product owners, QA, and operations to continuously improve reliability, performance, and developer experience.

What You’ll Learn & Contribute

• Deepen expertise in Azure PaaS/IaaS services, Kubernetes (AKS), and serverless architectures.
• Master infrastructure-as-code tooling (Bicep or Terraform) and automated deployment workflows.
• Gain hands-on experience with container registries (ACR), service meshes, and Azure DevOps.
• Collaborate in an Agile/Scrum environment, integrating AI tools to accelerate development.

Qualifications

You have the following background, although we also recognize that talent comes in many forms:

• 7+ years of software engineering experience, with 3+ years architecting cloud-native solutions on Azure.
• Strong mastery of C#, .NET, and containerized applications.
• Fluent in the use of modern AI tooling, such as GitHub Copilot, ChatGPT, Cursor, and AI-enhanced IDEs, to accelerate coding, testing, refactoring, and documentation workflow.
• Proven track record designing serverless applications and Kubernetes-based platforms.
• Hands-on with infrastructure as code (Bicep, Terraform) and CI/CD pipelines.
• Excellent communicator and mentor, passionate about sharing knowledge and uplifting teams.
• Actively follows developments in the AI ecosystem, with a mindset of continuous learning and experimentation to apply the latest advancements in cloud architectures, productivity, and code quality.
• Self-driven, pragmatic problem-solver who thrives in a collaborative, fast-moving environment.
