About the role
The Director, Field Sales , is responsible for managing the overall strategic direction of Benefit Cosmetics Canada Field Sales team. They are responsible for overseeing & ensuring all sales opportunities are maximized, & sales/financial targets are achieved while maintaining a relationship with our retail partners across Canada. They will be key in influencing & collaborating with stakeholders within the organization. The Director, Field Sales takes Canada long term plans & develops a strategy for the Canada Field Sales direction in support of these plans, as well as executes & measures success of the strategy.
Key Areas and Standards of Performance:
- Full responsibility Sales & Services P&L.
- Achieve financial plans including sales & account expenses, planning & dedicated sales force payroll productivity.
- Monitor market & competitors’ trends & develop strategies to maximize brand ranking with all retail accounts.
- In partnership with internal leaders, guide & direct training, marketing & event efforts that bring value to the business & a synergistic omni customer shopping & services experience.
- Establish and maintain productive partnerships with retailers, management & internal stakeholders.
- Serve as Field Sales Communication Point person for Accounts and Services, partnering closely with internal corporate & sales team.
- Achieve retails sales, gross sales, & services targets by partnering with National Account Managers on strategies that successfully drive both the in-store and .com channels of business in all channels of distribution.
- In partnership with internal leaders, establish organizational & systematic policies/procedures for field staff.
- Consistently analyze business results; create & communicate clear action plans to optimize results & ensure effective execution of operational activities for all channels of distribution.
- Create marketing programs in partnership with retail accounts & Benefit stakeholders to maximize retail sales while achieving company profit targets.
- In partnership with internal leaders, develop & implement systems & procedures that ensure the management & negotiation of inventory levels for brand including but not limited to new products, exclusive products, seasonal products, core products & the overall product mix that enables the company to maximize its retail and profit objectives.
- Ensure brand positioning in terms of image is maximized & consistent with the brand strategy.
- Lead a team of Regional Sales Managers, ensuring they are equipped to meet their targets for their region, team development & performance improvement.
- Provide logical & clear organization & succession planning at all levels of the sales team, with a view of supporting the growth of the business & providing a potential pool of qualified, motivated & mobile employees.
- Provide strong leadership, motivation & direction to the Regional Sales and Retail Account teams to execute sales generation, train Brow & Beauty Expert (BBE) staff & build effective store-line partnerships that impact sales, services, productivity, merchandising, execution of visual enhancements & overall brand presence.
- Drive future growth of the business through effective recruitment, selection & on-boarding of new employees. Support & develop existing team.
- In partnership with the Director, Education, train & develop high-caliber management talent & ensure the quality of training and development of sales teams. Ensure the sales team has the talent, training & tools to maximize sales.
- Create and lead high performance teams that drive sales through achieving comp store results.
- Support, model & enhance the seamless customer service focus by creating an environment that is friendly, helpful, knowledgeable & quick for customers and team members.
Qualifications:
- A minimum of 10 years' experience in a sales role within the cosmetics industry or related field, with at least 5 years managing a remote team.
- Demonstrated brand/sales/account management record (beauty industry and wholesale stores a plus) exceeding top and bottom-line results.
- Experience with managing multi-faceted promotional & new product introduction calendars as well as account inventory planning & sales analysis.
- Experience with impacting retail sales by assessing business opportunities, creating product ideas, negotiating, developing marketing strategies & follow through to execution.
- Ability to exercise independent discretion & judgment in managing a fast-paced environment adapting to change with a sense of urgency.
- Ability to lead, motivate & coach team to success.
- A sense of urgency, high energy & a roll-up-your-sleeves attitude
- Articulate thinker with a sense of humor & ability to take creative direction, react quickly, & interact productively during brainstorming meetings.
- Entrepreneurial spirit that will help drive results.
- Exceptional Microsoft Office Suite skills.
- Must have proof of insurance, current and valid driver’s license, and reliable means of transportation.
- Must be able to travel across Canada and the U.S as necessary.
