Position: Senior Accountant
Department: Finance
Reports to: Director, Finance
Summary:
The Senior Accountant is responsible for the preparation of monthly financial statements, monitoring of the annual budget and forecasting. This role will also be responsible to provide recommendations and guidance on implementing policies, procedures, systems and best practices and other duties as outlined below.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
(other duties may be assigned as required)
- Prepare monthly financial statements, maintain monthly balance sheet and profit & loss reconciliations, and monitor the budget with monthly variance analysis and forecasting
- Prepare and distribute event reporting to Management
- Prepare ticket sales reconciliations and event settlements
- Assist and supervise inventory counts including periodic cycle spot counts
- Various ad-hoc reporting for Department Managers and Directors
- Management of intercompany reconciliations
- Monthly labour reporting and statistics
- Assist with league reporting
- Maintain fixed asset register including depreciation and continuity schedules
- Review accounts receivable and accounts payable subledgers
- Prepare and record hospitality settlements
- Review and report on cost of sales accounts
- Bank reconciliations
- Prepare monthly GST & PST remittances and CRA statistical reporting requirements
- Reconcile internal billings and ensure appropriate departmental approvals are in place
- Document and monitor compliance of internal controls and procedure manuals
REQUIRED EXPERIENCE AND QUALIFICATIONS:
- At least 5 years general accounting experience
- Must be highly organized and detail-oriented
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with an ability to effectively communicate financial results to Management
- Must be a team player, self-starter and work with minimal supervision
- Preference will be given to candidates with a CPA or enrolled in the CPA program
- Must be able to work evenings and weekends as required
