POSITION STATUS: Temporary Full-Time (Contract ending March/2026**; Two weeks’ written notice prior to contract end)**

HOURS OF WORK: 37.5 hours per week (Days/Evening/Weekends; Flexibility required)

HOURLY PAY RATE: $23.64 - $29.56 per hour

About the Role:

Reporting to the Manager, Services and Supports, the Autism Consultant is responsible for providing Autism-based services to support persons of all ages, their families and communities. The Autism Consultant provides assistance with increasing knowledge, capacity, and navigating supports within the Autism service sector, based on individual goals. Responsibilities may include:

  • Follow established Community Services practices and provide support in line with Mission, Vision, and Values and Strategic Plan of Kerry’s Place
  • Fulfill responsibilities as an Autism Consultant across various programs
  • Consult with and maintain positive working relationships with supported persons, families, agencies, community groups, employers, and other key contacts
  • Work collaboratively with supported persons, families, agencies, community groups, as well as the internal team to support resource navigation and identified goals on an ongoing basis
  • Provide strategies and resources to support identified goals, in line with evidence-informed and best practices for the sector
  • Liaise with families, community groups and partner agencies in a professional fashion, including obtaining and maintaining necessary consent for service provision
  • Provide support/facilitation in group settings for persons with Autism, family members, agencies, and community member
  • Document and maintain electronic client files in a professional, thorough, and consistent manner, as outlined in record keeping procedures
  • Support community capacity building through attending events and provision of education/training, supporting others to gain understanding of Autism and Kerry’s Place services and supports
  • Represent Kerry’s Place at external community tables, committees, and/or events, as needed
  • Attend case conferences and/or meetings, as needed
  • Ensure the health and safety of supported persons in accordance to Ontario Regulation 299/10 Quality Assurance Measures, the Child, Youth and Family Services Act, and the Provincial and Municipal regulations and by-laws
  • Other duties as assigned

Education Qualifications:

  • Post-secondary education in Human / Social Services

Knowledge and Experience Requirements:

  • Minimum 1-year experience working with individuals with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) and other disabilities in a community-based setting, as well as;
  • Experience working with families and community agencies, as well as demonstrated knowledge of formal and informal resources available
  • Experience implementing evidence-informed support strategies for people with Autism
  • Understanding of human development and healthy relationship dynamics, as well as support approaches found to be helpful in support to individuals with ASD
  • Basic understanding of Child and Family Services Act, Services and Supports to Promote the Social Inclusion of Persons with Developmental Disabilities Act, and Accessibility for Ontarians with Disabilities Act, and other relevant legislation
  • Demonstrated ability to work respectfully and effectively with individuals and families from diverse backgrounds, including but not limited to cultural, spiritual, and heritage differences, as well as varied gender identities, pronouns and lived experiences
  • Proficiency in using Microsoft Office tools (e.g., Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and client data base systems or a willingness to learn and apply these skills effectively

Working Conditions/Physical Requirements:

  • Must have the ability to physically support children, youth and adults with Autism Spectrum Disorder
  • Must have the ability to complete the Non-Violent Crisis Intervention (NVCI) certification, as well as perform the required physical techniques. Training will be provided at no cost
  • A valid Driver’s License, with a minimum G2 and access to a reliable vehicle
  • As a condition of employment, employees must be able to provide a Driver’s Abstract in good standing with fewer than three demerit points
  • Ability to travel as required
  • Position requires flexible hours including evenings and weekends

Welcome to Kerry’s Place Autism Services. We are Canada’s largest service provider to families with children, adolescents, and adults, with Autism Spectrum Disorder.

Since 1974 Kerry’s Place has been creating, and providing evidence-based supports and services across the province of Ontario that enhance the quality of life of those with ASD.

With staff numbering more than 1200, Kerry’s Place is one of the only organizations in the country that serves the entire life span of those with ASD.

Through the Ontario Autism Program, we provide children and youth - and their families - a menu of timely, evidence-based services needed to achieve their goals at home, at school, and within their communities. This initiative serves individuals with ASD up to age 18, delivering skill-building groups, individual consultation, and family support.

We provide numerous Community Services and Supports, including our day and overnight respite options to provide a well-deserved break for families with loved ones with Autism, along with our many camps and leisure groups.

Our Adult Skill-Building and Peer Support Groups broaden the social circle for every individual we support. Our Employment Programs lend assistance to young adults with Autism to help develop skills that lead to meaningful employment opportunities.

We provide adults with ASD Residential and Semi-Independent Living Supports at 90 distinct properties across Ontario. Our group living approach provides a safe, 24 hour, home environment where residents are encouraged to pursue their own personal goals including outings into the community, employment, and an array of interests. Many of our residence grow with Kerry’s Place, spending upwards of 30 years with us. And through a lifetime of shared pursuits and generational experiences, we too, grow with them.
