Tk’emlúps te Secwépemc (TteS) is a fast-growing vibrant organization committed to the development and progress of its Band Members and Community. As such, the TteS invites applications from qualified, highly motivated and dynamic individuals to fill the following position.

POSITION TITLE: Project Coordinator

DEPARTMENT:             Kamloops Indian Band Development Corporation (KIBDC)

SUPERVISOR:               Economic Development Officer - Land Development

   

TERMS:                         Until January 2026  (with possible extension)

PROGRAM:

Kamloops Indian Band Development Corporation, a division of Sc.wén̓wen Economic Development, focuses on land leasing and land development initiatives that support progress towards economic sovereignty for Tk̓emlúps te Secwépemc (TteS).

 

Many of our land development projects focus on transitioning to a low-carbon community,

while also identifying opportunities for economic development.

 

One key project is the Kamloops Clean Energy Centre (KCEC) — a proposed green hydrogen facility to be located within Tk̓emlúps te Secwépemc’s traditional territory. The KCEC is designed as a 10 MW electrolysis plant, producing approximately 1,700 tonnes of low-carbon hydrogen per year, using renewable electricity and water to generate both hydrogen and oxygen.

 

The project has completed its feasibility phase and is now advancing through Front-End Engineering and Design (FEED), with a Final Investment Decision (FID) targeted for January 2026.

 

 

Purpose of Position:

The Project Coordinator will support the KCEC through the FEED phase, leading up to the FID. If the project receives a positive investment decision, there is potential for the role to be extended through the construction phase.

The Project Coordinator will assist the Project Manager

with day-to-day project execution, coordination, and documentation. For the right candidate, there could also be an opportunity to transition to a long-term operations position on the project.

Duties and Responsibilities:

FEED Phase:

  • Act as the local liaison for the project, including coordination of onsite contractors and consultants, responding to plant information requests, and supporting local events and communications.

  • Document control: Work with the Project Manager to develop and implement processes to ensure all documents are received, logged, and uploaded to the project SharePoint site.

  • Project controls: In collaboration with the CFO, CCO, and Project Manager, monitor project expenditures, forecast future costs, and prepare monthly project budget reports.

  • Schedule control: Assist the Project Manager in tracking progress and updating the MS Project schedule.

  • Attend project meetings, prepare and distribute meeting minutes, and maintain a log of actions and decisions.

  • Support the CCO and legal counsel in preparing contracts and agreements.

  • Assist the Project Manager with preparing construction tender packages and managing the tendering process.

  • Government funding: Work with the CCO to prepare funding claims and reports and support the preparation of additional government funding applications.

 

Construction Phase:

Continue supporting duties from the FEED phase, with the following additions:

  • Prepare construction progress reports.

  • Prepare weekly and monthly safety reports.

  • Assist the Project Manager with coordinating shop inspections and testing of engineered equipment.

  • Support the Project Manager and project team with commissioning and project turnover activities.

 

Operations Phase:

  • Participate in post-construction operations in an operator, maintenance, or business support role.

Professional Certification, Education and Experience:

We welcome applications from co-op students, recent graduates, and early-career professionals with relevant education and interest in project coordination and clean energy development.

  • Technical background (engineer, technologist, mechanical or electrical trade, project management/ controls); or enrollment in an engineering, technologist, trade or project management program.

  • Proficient with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, SharePoint, Adobe).

  • Experience with MS Project and AutoCAD would be an asset.

An equivalent combination of education, training and/or experience with demonstrated results may be considered.

Skill and Abilities:

  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple tasks and deadlines.

  • Clear written and verbal communication skills, including notetaking and reporting.

  • Ability to work independently while also collaborating effectively with a multidisciplinary team.

  • Comfortable engaging with community members, contractors, and external consultants,

  • Detail-oriented, with the ability to track and manage project documentation and schedules.

  • Willingness to learn and adapt in a dynamic, evolving project environment.

  • An interest in clean energy, sustainability, etc.  is considered an asset.

  • Ability to work in a multi-cultural settings and interest in learning about TteS language, culture, and history.

Special Requirements:

  • Reside in Kamloops or the surrounding area.

  • Class 5 driver's license and access to a vehicle to travel to work related activities.

 

HOURS OF WORK:

Standard 7-hour day shifts. Flexible scheduling may be considered, and part-time arrangements are open for discussion based on candidate availability and project needs. Occasional non-standard shifts may be required.

PAY GRADE:

               Starting at $22.59 - $33.22/hour depending on experience and education.
