Director of Finance & Administration

About the Role Reporting to the Executive Director and collaborating closely with our Board and senior leadership team, the Director of Finance will guide Causeway’s financial operations and strategic planning. You'll oversee budgeting, reporting, analysis, audit, and compliance, while mentoring a small team and working cross-functionally to ensure our mission is financially strong and sustainable. This role is key to shaping the future of Causeway as both a strategic thinker and hands-on financial leader.
What You’ll Do
● Lead financial planning, forecasting, and budgeting processes
● Prepare and present quarterly and annual financial reports to leadership and the Board
● Oversee all accounting operations and payroll functions (via Bookkeeper)
● Monitor program spending and funding agreements, ensuring compliance
● Guide the annual audit and charity return process
● Offer financial insights for growth, efficiency, and impact
● Mentor and supervise the Bookkeeper and administrative staff
● Actively participate as a senior leader at Causeway
What You Bring
● Completed post-secondary education (or international equivalent) in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
● 5+ years of experience in financial management and accounting, including 3+ years in progressively senior roles, with a demonstrated ability to mentor and lead a small team
● Experience in financial reporting, budgeting and audits is preferred; exposure to nonprofit finance—whether through professional or volunteer roles—is a valued asset
● Strong ease and proficiency with QuickBooks, MS Excel
● Exposure to CRA compliance, including reporting, source deductions, and communication with government agencies is an asset
● Strong analytical and decision-making skills
● Proven ability to lead, collaborate, and communicate across teams
