The Glencoe Club is a private, family-oriented sports and social club located in the Elbow Park neighbourhood of Calgary, Alberta. We are seeking part time early morning/daytime Lifeguard/Swim Instructor to join our Aquatics Team. As a Lifeguard/Instructor you will create a safe, enjoyable atmosphere with the highest standards in cleanliness and water quality, where Glencoe members of all ages can receive instruction and supervision by highly qualified lifeguards and instructors.

Responsibilities

  • Maintaining open communication with team members, parents, and caregivers
  • Providing exceptional customer service to all Glencoe Club members and guests, enforce and educate members on pool rules and keep accurate track of pool statistics
  • Assist in keeping the pool area clean and tidy through maintenance tasks
  • Being knowledgeable about program information and schedules in order to assist members
  • Attending all staff meetings and in-service training sessions
  • Lifeguarding duties according to The Glencoe Club and Lifesaving Society lifeguard standards and practices
  • Instructing duties including knowledge of stroke standards, progressions, class content, and stroke mechanics, conducting evaluations, preparing lesson plans and writing report cards

Qualifications

  • Current National Lifeguard – Pool Award is required
  • Current Lifesaving Society Swim for Life Instructor Certification is required
  • Current Standard First Aid & CPR ‘C’/AED is required
  • Lifesaving Instructor, Sport Coach 1, National Lifeguard Instructor and Trainer certifications are considered assets

Additional Details This is a Part Time position that reports to the Aquatics Director. The successful applicants must be available work a variety of early morning (5:15am), daytime weekday and weekend shifts.

The successful applicant will be required to complete a background check including a Vulnerable Sector Check as well as Respect in the Workplace and Respect in Sport online certifications prior to commencing employment.

Applicants must be legally eligible to work in Canada. The Club does not provide assistance with obtaining Canadian work authorization
