Wood is recruiting for a Senior Process Lead Engineer to join its Canada Projects business focusing on Oil, Gas & New Energies. This opportunity is hybrid and is based in Calgary, AB.

The successful candidate will be responsible for leading the design of heavy oil/SAGD well pads, pipelines and Central Processing Facilities through all project engineering stages. We are seeking experienced engineers with the drive and commitment to make a genuine difference to our performance across the full life cycle of projects, including study phase, DBM, FEED and Detailed Design. Applicants with strong technical and communication skills, and technical safety experience in the listed areas, are encouraged to apply.

  • Provide strong technical knowledge and leadership to design, execute, and validate all process engineering deliverables and tasks required for heavy oil/SAGD projects

  • Provide strong technical problem-solving skills

  • Develop and validate process simulations and heat and material balances

  • Provide SME guidance for process equipment and line sizing, relief valve sizing, and optimizing the process control strategy to support PFD and P&ID development

  • Coordinate clearly and efficiently with other engineering disciplines

  • Interface clearly with Clients

  • Review and validate vendor information in detail

  • Execute conceptual studies through to detailed engineering stages within proposed timeline and budget

  • Coordinate/supervise a team of process engineers offering support and guidance to junior and intermediate process engineers, and to global workshare teams

  • Perform checking of all process engineering deliverables in accordance with industry codes, standards and guidelines, and client specifications

  • Ensure regulatory compliance by adhering to API, ASME, CSA, etc.

  • Participate in PHA reviews to ensure compliance with safety and operational requirements

  • Conduct regular reporting, scheduling, resource planning and coordination with workshare offices

  • Keep updated on technical skills and on new technologies in industry

Expected:

  • Extensive experience in the design of well pads, pipelines and Central Processing Facilities

  • Proven experience leading teams through FEED and Detailed engineering stages of heavy oil/SAGD projects

  • Strong knowledge of process safety and risk management in the heavy oil/SAGD industry

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Chemical Engineering or equivalent from an accredited institution

  • Currently registered or eligible for registration with APEGA (additional registrations with EGBC and APEGS are considered an asset)

  • Minimum of 15 years’ experience with the majority spent in heavy oil/SAGD design

  • Proficient in HYSYS

  • Well versed in other process engineering software such as HTRI, Aspen EDR, Pipesim, UniSim, etc.

  • Strong client-facing communication skills

  • Excellent written and oral English skills

  • Ability to prioritize workload to meet deadlines across multiple projects

  • Ability to coordinate with global workshare offices
