About the role
The Billing Specialist will evaluate and settle invoices related to insurance claims according to policy terms and payment guidelines. You will process bills related to medical, trip cancellation/interruption, baggage loss, and other travel-related claims while ensuring accuracy, compliance, and customer satisfaction. The Billing Specialist will coordinate payment-related work across multiple channels and systems, and collaborate between the claims team, finance team, and external vendors in support of payment processing activities.
What you'll do
- Manage various channels for invoices and payment requests related to travel insurance claims.
- Review and analyze invoices and payment requests against claims to determine payability.
- Calculate payments according to policy limits and exclusions.
- Document payment decisions with clear rationale.
- Send payments for processing to finance team using company systems and established guidelines.
- Communicate with vendors when needed to provide payment status and collect additional information.
- Identify potential fraud indicators.
The skills you bring
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience
- Excellent analytical and decision-making skills
- Detail-oriented with strong organizational abilities
Preferred qualifications
- Travel or Property & Casualty insurance experience is an asset
- Knowledge of insurance regulations and industry standards
- Knowledge of medical terminology and coding is an asset
- Experience in claims adjudication
- Bachelor or higher degree or equivalent in Accounting, Finance, or related field.
- Bilingual French fluency is an asset
