***Veterinary Purchasing Co. Ltd. (VP)***located in St. Marys, Ontario, is the largest veterinary owned distributor in Canada. Our primary purpose is to ensure that Veterinarians have the supplies they need to provide healthcare to all types of animals. Be a part of the Supply Chain Industry and join our team. We are currently looking for likeminded individuals to join our Operations team in a Student Warehouse Associate role.

Student Warehouse Associate

Student Warehouse Associates are responsible for performing various warehouse duties associated with the proper picking, verifying, and packing of product orders; ensuring that clinics receive their product in good condition and in a timely manner. Essential Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Pick and verify product orders to ensure accuracy.

  • Pack orders to ensure product is not damaged during transport and that all shipping labels are applied, as required.

  • Maintain warehouse to ensure that the proper amount of product is available and that shelves are neat and free of excess packaging material and debris.

  • Complete daily warehouse preparation jobs, as assigned.

  • Understand and follow all applicable Standard Operating Procedures as required.

  • Other duties as assigned.

Note: This position requires employees to walk/stand for the entirety of their shift, and lift up to 50lbs, as needed.

Health & Safety

  • Works in compliance with the Occupational Health & Safety Act.

  • Conducts self with regard for safety of employees; is aware of safety and evacuation procedures.

  • Report any health & safety violations or hazards to your Supervisor.

Good Manufacturing Practices:

  • Follow and understand all relevant Standard Operating Procedures with respect to Good Manufacturing Practices

Skills and knowledge required:

  • Must be a minimum of 15 years of age
  • Strong written & verbal communication
  • Ability to work with minimal supervision
  • Ability to work independently or as part of a team

Schedule:

Operational days are Sunday through Friday. This position requires availability to work Sundays and scheduled statutory holidays as needed.

  • Sunday 7:30 AM – 4:00PM (8 hours)

  • Monday to Friday start between 3:30 and 4:30 based on needs (4.5 hours)

Students will be scheduled for one Sunday shift and two weekday shifts OR three weekday shifts, averaging between 13 and 17 hours per week. Additional hours may be available if requested.

** Schedules subject to change depending on business needs. Hours of work to be increased for the months of July & August.

Veterinary Purchasing was formed in 1972 with the key, simple purpose of delivering products and supplies in a timely and economical manner to Ontario veterinarians. We are a shareholder-owned company and our shares are owned by only licensed veterinarians who own an accredited facility in Ontario. Currently, the operation is run out of a 145,000 sq. ft. warehouse, divided into 7 distinct zones that are organized by product groupings. Picking, packing and shipment of pharmaceuticals, pet food, supplies, clinic supplies, and much more, is streamlined for efficient service via bar coded bin cards, terminals with bar code scanners, and an automated computerized conveyer system. On our busiest days we ship approximately 1,200 orders and 11,200 pieces!
