General Summary:
The Warehouse Manager is responsible for overseeing all aspects of warehouse operations in Quebec City. This includes managing staff, maintaining inventory accuracy, and ensuring efficient receiving, staging, and dispatch of home appliances and large-format goods. The role supports six-day operations and works closely with delivery teams and logistics partners to drive timely outbound shipments and an exceptional customer experience. The Warehouse Manager also acts as a backup to the Dispatcher/Customer Care team when required and plays a key role in developing SOPs, monitoring KPIs, and upholding safety and operational standards.

Primary Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Oversee all inbound and outbound warehouse activities, ensuring timely and accurate fulfillment of appliance and bulky item deliveries.
  • Maintain 99% inventory accuracy through routine cycle counts, WMS tracking, and timely inspection and logging of returned or undeliverable items.
  • Hire, schedule, train, and manage warehouse staff and drivers, ensuring adherence to SOPs, safety standards, and performance expectations. Apply progressive discipline when necessary.
  • Ensure the warehouse remains clean, organized, and fully compliant with safety and maintenance protocols. Conduct audits and implement corrective actions as needed.
  • Collaborate with delivery teams and third-party logistics partners to prepare and load trucks efficiently, using optimal load sequencing (e.g., last stop loaded first).
  • Maintain clear and proactive communication with drivers and customers, resolving issues in real time and reporting updates to the Sr. Manager and the Driver Happiness team.
  • Serve as a backup to the Dispatcher/Customer Care team, handling direct customer communication when needed.
  • Develop and refine SOPs to improve space utilization (target: 85%), minimize product damage, and optimize operational efficiency.
  • Operate and oversee the safe use of all material handling equipment, including forklifts, pallet jacks, and stackers.
  • Monitor warehouse KPIs (e.g., order accuracy, return processing time, space utilization, and safety metrics). Conduct random POD audits to ensure compliance.
  • Ensure secure and proper handling, loading, and unloading of appliances and bulky items using blankets, straps, dollies, and wraps.
  • Manage the documentation and storage of undeliverable items and returns. Coordinate the recycling of haul-away appliances in compliance with hazardous waste regulations.
  • Oversee truck cleanliness, assist with pre-trip inspections, and report any maintenance needs to ensure vehicle safety standards are met.
  • Submit complete documentation for freight claims (e.g., BOL, POD) and report lost, stolen, or damaged items with photo evidence.
  • Uphold company standards for conduct and professional appearance while on-site.
  • Perform additional duties and special projects as assigned.

Qualifications & Skills:

  • Minimum 3 years of warehouse operations experience, including 1–3 years in a leadership or supervisory role; appliance or heavy goods experience is an asset.
  • Post-secondary education in logistics, supply chain management, or equivalent work experience.
  • Strong understanding of warehouse operations, inventory control, and safety procedures.
  • Proven ability to manage and operate warehouse equipment; forklift certification preferred.
  • Strong leadership and team management skills with the ability to coach and motivate staff.
  • Excellent planning, organizational, and problem-solving abilities.
  • Bilingual in English and French with effective verbal and written communication skills.
  • Collaborative and adaptable, with the ability to prioritize and perform under pressure.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint), Adobe tools, and email platforms; experience with WMS preferred.
  • Familiarity with appliance handling tools and proper techniques for loading, strapping, and staging heavy goods.
  • Strong commitment to enforcing SOPs, maintaining a safe workplace, and driving continuous improvement.
  • Open to feedback and able to adjust to evolving operational demands or extended shifts.

Working Conditions:

  • This position is based in a warehouse environment and requires both physical and administrative tasks.

  • Must be able to lift and maneuver heavy items, operate material handling equipment, and work in varying indoor temperatures.

  • The role also involves desk-based responsibilities using computers and other office tools.

  • Schedule may include extended hours or rotational shifts during peak operational periods.
