Our challenge We are seeking an experienced Java Enterprise Application Developer with a strong background in cloud computing, particularly on Microsoft Azure. The ideal candidate will leverage their expertise in Java, microservices, and Azure services to architect and build robust, scalable, and secure enterprise applications. Candidate will collaborate with cross-functional teams across different geographies, implement CI/CD pipelines, and contribute to the overall technical strategy for cloud native solutions.
Additional Information*
The base salary for this position will vary based on geography and other factors. In accordance with law, the base salary for this role if filled within Mississauga, ON is CAD $122k – CAD $128k/year & benefits (see below).
The Role Responsibilities:
- Application Development: Design and develop enterprise-grade, cloud-native applications and microservices using Java and Spring Boot, adhering to best practices for security, performance, and maintainability.
- Azure Integration: Integrate and work with various Azure services such as Azure Functions, SQL Database, Signal-R, Service Bus, Key Vault, and Azure App Services/Containers to build comprehensive solutions.
- Security & Access Control: Implement application security by integrating with Entra ID (Azure AD), managing role-based access controls, and ensuring secure handling of sensitive data.
- System Design & Architecture: Perform high-level and low-level system design, create workflow diagrams, and participate in design review sessions to align architecture with business needs.
- DevOps & Automation: Collaborate with CI/CD teams to automate deployment pipelines using Azure DevOps, GIT, Maven, and other tools, ensuring smooth and reliable deployment processes.
- API & Microservices Development: Develop RESTful APIs and microservices with a focus on security, performance, scalability, and robust error handling.
- Networking & Cloud Infrastructure: Possess a good understanding of Azure network topology to ensure optimal configuration and security of cloud resources.
- Cross-functional Collaboration: Work effectively with multi-geographical teams, communicate complex technical information clearly, and adapt to different team workflows and time zones.
- Continuous Improvement: Stay updated with the latest Azure cloud services, Java frameworks, and best practices, applying new learnings to improve system architecture, performance, and security.
Requirements:
- Candidate must have 8 plus years of hands-on experience in developing enterprise applications using Java with solid fundamentals.
- Should have 5 years of experience on cloud (azure preferably).
- Design and develop cloud native applications and services on Azure using Java.
- Integrate various Azure services such as Azure functions, Sql pass, Signal-R, Service bus, Key vault and more.
- Provide application security by integrating with Entra ID and understanding of role-based access controls.
- Knowledge of Azure app service / containers is a must-have.
- Decent knowledge of Azure network topology and Azure dev ops to automate and manage deployments.
- Experience in writing REST , Microservice & APIs- including performance, security and error handling aspects.
- Spring/Spring boot development experience is a must have.
- Able to perform system design (High /low), Workflow diagrams and participate in design review sessions.
- Able to work with CI/CD teams, knowledge of GIT , Azure Dev ops, Maven is required.
- Excellent communication skills, communicate effectively with different team members.
- Able to work with teams in different geographical locations/time zones.
Preferred, but not required:
- Detail-oriented, ability to turn deliverables around quickly with a high degree of accuracy.
- Strong analytical skills, ability to interpret business requirements and produce functional and technical design documents.
- Good time management skills – Ability to prioritize and multi-task, handling multiple efforts at once.
- Strong desire to understand and learn domain.
- Experience in a financial services/banking industry.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment; to be flexible and learn quickly.
- Ability to multi-task with attention to detail/ prioritize tasks.
