About the role
Position Overview
The incumbent, specializing in ocular motility, assists the Ophthalmologist with the diagnosis and treatment of visual system dysfunctions involving eye alignment, eye movement, binocularity and vision.
Experience
- Previous related experience preferred.
Education (Degree/Diploma/Certificate)
- Complete high school education, Manitoba standards.
- Successful completion of a 24 month Canadian Orthoptic Council approved training program (including academic and clinical instruction) required. (Note: Canadian Orthoptic Council requires a pre-requisite of a university degree with emphasis on the sciences prior to the 24 month training program) Must meet ongoing continuing education requirements of the Canadian Orthoptic Council.
Certification/Licensure/Registration
- Certificate from a Canadian Orthoptic Council approved 24 month training program required.
Qualifications and Skills
- Basic computer skills, including Microsoft Word, required.
- Knowledge of Maxgold software preferred.
Physical Requirements
- Good physical and mental health and manual dexterity.
The Collective Agreement this position is covered under, is identified by the Union noted above. As a result of The Health Sector Bargaining Unit Review Act, the bargaining agent for this position may differ from the Union identified.
