Job Description Junior Analyst, Operations Performance Management - Contract position up to one (1) year)
What will I be doing?
- Help in the development & maintenance of rail operational dashboards, including identification of suitable data sources, conducting exploratory data analysis, efficient data collection & processing, and building visualizations & reports. Ensure data sets remain accurate and up to date.
- Assist in coordinating activities to support rail operational dashboards, databases and applications. Contribute to data management by building process flow charts and utilizing established ITIL (Information Technology Infrastructure Library) practices to support enterprise applications and systems.
- Acquire knowledge and necessary skills to develop, implement, and monitor Train Service Plans (TSP) using specialized software for GO Transit, UP Express and third party operators. Rail planning will include timetable building, resolving train conflicts, developing equipment line up & fleet cycling plan, creating anonymous job descriptions & rosters, extracting & uploading rail operational data.
- Leveraging acquired TSP and technical skills to assist in the development of technical documentation, draft training materials (best practices, procedures, workflows), and train planning and resource management software.
Qualifications What Skills and Qualifications Do I Need?
- Completion of a diploma or a related discipline – or a combination of education, training and experience deemed equivalent (preferably in data science/computer science/statistics).
- Demonstrated year of related experience.
- Proven experience in conducting research and analysis to identify data requirements, data sources, and modeling techniques to facilitate data gathering and analysis.
- Adaptability to rail operational planning and technologies as above mentioned.
- Proficiency in Power BI, along with strong Excel skills, are highly valued. Experience with Python or R, for data analysis and scripting, as well as knowledge of SQL or an equivalent database language for managing large datasets from multiple sources is considered an asset.
