The Role
The Senior Project Manager is responsible for overseeing the successful execution of telecom and utility infrastructure projects across Manitoba. This role ensures projects are delivered safely, efficiently, and in compliance with technical, regulatory, and client requirements. Acting as a key liaison between internal teams, subcontractors, utility owners, and clients, the Senior Project Manager drives project delivery while maintaining high standards of quality, cost control, and stakeholder satisfaction.
Success in this role requires a strong understanding of construction operations and the ability to effectively apply project management tools and analytical methods to enhance project performance and drive continuous improvement across the division.
Key Responsibilities:
- Manage the full lifecycle of telecommunications and utility construction projects from initiation through closeout.
- Ability to analyze project information and provide impressive construction solutions to create efficiencies and cost savings
- Develop and maintain comprehensive project plans, schedules, and budgets in alignment with organizational goals.
- Oversee permitting processes, locate coordination, and third-party utility approvals.
- Proactively identify project risks and develop mitigation strategies to minimize impact on timelines or budgets.
- Track and report on project progress through status updates, performance metrics, and stakeholder meetings.
- Manage project changes, including scope adjustments, schedule revisions, and cost impacts.
- Ensure project documentation is accurate, timely, and complete, including contracts, change orders, and closeout packages.
- Foster strong relationships with clients, vendors, utility owners, and local municipalities to support project success.
What You Bring
- Post-secondary education in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, Telecommunications, or a related field – or combination of relevant education and experience.
- PMP certification or equivalent project management training is required.
- Minimum 5 years of progressive project management experience in telecommunications or utility infrastructure construction.
- Proven track record delivering telecommunication and utility installation projects in compliance with Manitoba Hydro, Bell MTS, or municipal utility standards is strongly preferred.
- Strong understanding of construction and operation methodologies for telecommunication and utility infrastructure deployment.
- Excellent communication, leadership, and organizational skills.
- Proficient in project management tools (e.g., MS Project, Primavera, or similar) and Microsoft Office Suite.
- Valid Class 5 driver’s license and willingness to travel within Manitoba as required.
