Digital Media Coordinator- Dinos Athletics ,Faculty of Kinesiology
About the role
The Dinos Athletics in the Faculty of Kinesiology is currently seeking a Full-time Regular Digital Media Coordinator.
Reporting to the Manager, Communications, the Coordinator, Digital Media works alongside the Coordinator, Sports Information, as well as other members of the Business Operations team to produce engaging content that enhances fan experience, brand visibility, and revenue generation opportunities.
This position is highly collaborative and leads the planning, creation, and distribution of digital content, ranging from real-time social media coverage and video highlights to graphic design and digital storytelling. The work environment is fast-paced and highly visible, and includes multiple deadlines, simultaneous content demands, and rapid turnaround times.
The flexible work schedule is 35 hours per week, with the peak period of work occurring from September 1 through April 30 each year. Evening and weekend work is a core component of this role.
Summary of Key Responsibilities (job functions include but are not limited to):
- Lead the creation and implementation of a year-round content strategy to enhance the visibility of Dinos Athletics across all digital platforms
- Develop and maintain a consistent content calendar aligned with varsity seasons, key events, and strategic initiatives
- Coordinate real-time coverage of varsity events, including in-game social media, behind-the-scenes content, and short-form video storytelling
- Ensure social media channels show consistent year-over-year growth in audience engagement, reach, and followership
- Supervise digital media assistants in their game day roles, providing training and editorial oversight
- Ensure all content aligns with University of Calgary and Dinos Athletics branding standards
- Collaborate with varsity teams to develop content that supports student-athlete recruitment
- Lead the planning and production of video content, including game highlights, hype reels, athlete features, and promotional storytelling
- Coordinate photo and video coverage for games, major events, and campaigns, including media days, team photos, and headshots
- Coordinate graphic design and visual storytelling, collaborating with the Business Operations team to deliver assets for game promotion, ticket sales, and more
- Liaise with broadcast partners to support streaming and in-venue content needs.
- Assist with uploading and maintaining video content across web and social platforms, including YouTube and embedded media
- Manage digital media assets, including organizing, tagging, and archiving photography and video files for future use
- Plan and execute paid digital and social media advertising campaigns to support ticket sales, event promotion, and brand awareness
- Track and analyze digital performance metrics across all platforms (e.g., Instagram, X, TikTok, YouTube, website analytics) using tools such as native insights, Meta Business Suite, and Google Analytics
- Collaborate with the Business Operations team to align content strategy with broader departmental goals and sponsorship requirements
Qualifications / Requirements:
- A minimum of a bachelor's degree in marketing, communications, arts, or equivalent is required
- A minimum of two years of experience in digital media, social media management, or content creation, preferably in a university, athletics, or sport-related environment
- Demonstrated experience producing and editing video content, including highlights, hype reels, and feature storytelling
- Strong creative writing skills and the ability to adapt tone and messaging for various digital platforms
- Strong attention to detail, organization, and ability to manage multiple concurrent projects in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment
- Experience in graphic design and motion graphics tools, particularly within the Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop, Illustrator, Premiere Pro, After Effects)
- Familiarity with digital analytics platforms and the ability to interpret performance metrics
- Knowledge of sport and the Canadian university athletics landscape (e.g., Canada West, U SPORTS) is considered an asset
- Experience supervising or mentoring part-time staff or student assistants is an asset
