About the Role:
Global Saskatoon’s News Department is currently seeking a full-time Digital Broadcast Journalist to join its team. The successful candidate for this position may be required to work a variety of shifts and perform a variety of duties. In this position, you will report directly to the Provincial Managing Editor. This is a group 4 position in the current collective agreement.
You will contribute by:
- Generating original and relevant story/segment ideas.
- Strong on-air presentation, including live remotes and unscripted material.
- Writing, producing, shooting, editing and posting content with multiple deadlines on a daily basis for both broadcast and online.
- ENG photography and non-linear editing for broadcast and online.
- Publishing video content to websites and social media channels.
- Available to work weekdays, evenings and weekends.
- Producing as required.
- Other duties as assigned.
Skills and experience you will bring:
- Post-secondary education in Journalism, Broadcasting, Broadcast Technology or in a related field.
- Strong writing and storytelling skills.
- Willingness to adapt to rapidly changing technology and workflows.
- Strong news writing and presenting skills, and the ability to quickly pivot between daily stories.
- Strong research abilities with attention to detail.
- Ability to ‘think on your feet’ and handle the demands of multiple, daily online and broadcast deadlines in a high-tech environment.
- Knowledge of, and experience with, social media tools and technologies (X, Facebook, YouTube, etc.) and related applications
- Familiarity with Canadian Press style and WordPress would be considered assets.
- Preference will be given to candidates with proven shooting and editing experience.
- Previous anchoring and/or weather presentation experience would be considered an asset.
- Self-started with good communication skills.
- An amazing, can-do attitude must work well under pressure and possess a desire to be the best.

- Valid full driver's license with a clean driving abstract.
