Senior Financial Accountant
About the role
The Senior Financial Accountant, under the direction of the Financial Controller, will be responsible for managing the monthly, quarterly, and annual financial close processes. This role will also assist with project accounting related to revenue and contribute to the preparation of government funding program claims.
Responsibilities:
Responsible for completion of month-end financial close process and ensure timely preparation of monthly management reports and dashboard updates.
- · Managing project accounting function. This includes project set up, month end forecasting reviews, cost analysis, preparation of monthly financial reports, etc.
- · Manage the Accounts Receivable function, including invoicing and tracking outstanding payments.
- · Prepare quarterly financial statements and other continuous disclosure reports in compliance with IFRS.
- · Support the year-end audit process for financial statements.
- · Collaborate with operations management to ensure accurate and timely financial information is provided to the management team.
- · Assist in preparing monthly and quarterly reports for Government Funding Programs.
- · Prepare other ad-hoc reports and respond to requests as needed.
- · The company reserves the right to modify duties, responsibilities, and authority as deemed appropriate.
Qualifications:
Business degree in finance or accounting, with a CPA designation. Applicants with other combinations of relevant training and experience will also be considered.
- Experience with professional accounting firm considered an asset
- Strong technical accounting skills and exposure to International Financial Reporting Standards ("IFRS")
- Demonstrate ability to multi-task, analyze and problem solve complex issues.
- Experience in percentage complete revenue recognition an asset.
- Experience with government funding programs such as SR&ED and NRC-IRAP an asset;
- Excellent computer skills with experience of advanced Excel techniques.
- Excellent interpersonal, planning, coordinating, organizing, time management, and oral & written communication skills.
- Ability to work independently and as an active team member.
- Must be able to obtain a Government of Canada security clearance.
