Intermediate Interior Designer
POP Design Group Inc. – Calgary, AB
POP Design Group Inc. is currently seeking an Intermediate Interior Designer with 8–10+ years of strong commercial experience to join our creative and collaborative team.
We’re a boutique commercial interior design studio based in Calgary, designing projects across Western Canada. Our portfolio includes multi-family residential, seniors’ communities, restaurants, hospitality, corporate, medical, retail, and recreational facilities. We pride ourselves on delivering original, functional, and tailored design solutions.
Role Overview:
This position is ideal for a designer with solid experience in commercial interiors who’s looking to take on more ownership and responsibility within a supportive team. The successful candidate will contribute to all phases of design, from concept to completion, while collaborating with clients, consultants, and contractors.
Responsibilities:
- Develop and present creative, project-appropriate design concepts and material palettes
- Create detailed construction drawing packages including plans, elevations, millwork, and lighting layouts
- Specify finishes, fixtures, and furnishings
- Coordinate with consultants, suppliers, and trades to ensure accurate execution
- Attend site visits and assist with project installations and reviews
- Support senior leadership in managing timelines, budgets, and client expectations
Qualifications:
- Degree in Interior Design (from an accredited institution)
- 8–10+ years of experience in commercial interior design
- Proficient in AutoCAD and REVIT (mandatory)
- Strong understanding of the Alberta Building Code, construction documentation, and interior detailing
- Skilled in SketchUp, V-Ray, and Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop, InDesign, Illustrator)
- Confident in sourcing and specifying materials and finishes
- Excellent communication, organization, and time management skills
- Strong sense of design, colour, spatial planning, and technical execution
