Description
- Design mechanical systems for commercial and multi-residential buildings, including HVAC, plumbing, sanitary, storm, fire protection, and sprinkler systems.
- Conduct field visits and assist in feasibility studies; develop design criteria aligned with client expectations.
- Develop design concepts and prepare detailed designs, tender packages, and construction documents.
- Perform engineering calculations and produce drawings, schematics, specifications, and technical proposals.
- Assist with equipment sizing and selection.
- Interpret and apply the Ontario Building Code, as well as CSA, ASHRAE, and NFPA standards.
- Support the maintenance of quality standards and adherence to project deadlines.
- Contribute to problem-solving efforts on projects under the guidance of Designers and Engineers.
- Manage multiple projects of varying size and complexity simultaneously.
- Work independently with minimal supervision.
- Perform other tasks as assigned by Principals or Project Managers to support the success of the firm.
Profile
- Must be a licensed Professional Engineer (P.Eng.) in Ontario and in good standing with Professional Engineers Ontario (PEO).
- Proficient in AutoCAD ; experience with Revit is considered an asset.
- Ability to develop and coordinate 3D construction models .
- Team-oriented with strong technical aptitude and excellent communication skills-both verbal and written-in English.
- Strong organizational skills and keen attention to detail, with the ability to manage multiple projects in a fast-paced environment.
- Minimum of five (5) years of relevant design experience in Canadian mechanical construction for building systems (HVAC and plumbing).
- Solid knowledge of the Ontario Building Code , and familiarity with CSA, ASHRAE, and NFPA standards .
- Ability to work independently and apply technical resources with minimal supervision.
- Advanced computer proficiency, including MS Office, AutoCAD, Revit , and other design software tools.
- Willingness to learn and/or familiarity with various HVAC and plumbing systems; ability to develop pipe and duct layouts in coordination with structural, electrical, and architectural components.
- Level of responsibility will be commensurate with experience.
- Strong understanding of mechanical construction practices , installation methods, emerging technologies, project planning, and the commissioning process.
- In-depth knowledge of mechanical systems from both design and installation perspectives , including HVAC, piping, and plumbing systems.
- Valid Ontario Driver's License required.
- Proficiency in Mandarin is considered an asset
