Reporting to the Food & Beverage Senior Financial Analyst, the AP Specialist will provide financial & administrative support for Freehand Hospitality & other restaurants in Downtown Halifax via the process of posting sales, preparing reconciliations, and posting entries to the accounting system.
As Account Payable Specialist, you will:
- Complete data entry to ensure all accounts payable invoices and payment requests are recorded in compliance with company policies and internal controls.
- Complete credit card reconciliations.
- Coordinate accounts payable payment runs upon approval.
- Maintain accounts payable files by filing relevant documentation.
- Identify and coordinate a response to invoice discrepancies with possible solutions in a timely manner.
- Examine vendor statements for past-due invoices and collaborates with vendors to maintain accounts up to date.
- Respond to queries from vendors
- Ensure all accounts payable files are kept up to date.
- Fill out and submits new vendor set-up request forms.
- Assist Food & Beverage accounting team in preparing monthly accrual estimates.
- Provide payment and coding assistance to restaurant staff, upon request.
- Miscellaneous Accounts Payable postings.
- Other similar and related duties as required
What we’re looking for:
- University degree or technical diploma with a focus in finance or accounting
- Previous accounting experience is considered an asset.
- Strong analytical skills with a high attention to detail
- Effective organizational and time management skills with a focus on achieving deadlines
- Prior experience in the food & beverage or hospitality industry is considered an asset
