About the role
THE POSITION
The Compliance and Integrity Specialist supports the Compliance and Integrity program for Boehringer Ingelheim Canada, animal health and human pharma businesses, with emphasis on the animal health compliance and Integrity program. The Compliance and Integrity Specialist develops and manages compliance operations, activities and projects and provides guidance, analyses and tools that enable compliance oversight and internal controls for internal stakeholders. Serves as a strategic business partner in creating awareness, understanding and acceptance of Ethics & Compliance and coaches' employees to ensure that the company's culture of compliance is a natural element of day-to-day business.
Responsibilities
- Create and implement governance policies, procedures, and guidance documents based on Health Canada, Industry codes and BI global procedures for Anti Bribery, Anti-Trust, Insider trading, Healthcare Compliance, Data Protection, and Information governance.
- Conduct risk assessment, create action items for medium and high-risk areas, follow up on action items.
- Develop and deliver basic, advanced, or tailored training depending on the risk activity, Audits, Corporate Department Internal Auditing (CDIA) lessons learned and business needs.
- Conduct monitoring activities based on the monitoring plan, create reports, identify gaps, create corrective action and preventive (CAPA) action plans and track status, and follow up on CAPA.
- Generate and distribute status reports, metrics, and other documentation as required.
- First point of contact for governance related questions.
- Other projects as deemed necessary to implement based on new regulations, global or local procedures and activities.
This position is based in the Burlington, Ontario office located at 5180 South Service Road and is flexible.
Employees in flexible roles are required to be at the office a minimum of 50% of the time each month and must report to the office when requested and required by their Manager/Department.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree or higher, with experience in Compliance activities
- 2–3 years of prior experience working in a regulated environment, within industry, a law firm, a service provider, a healthcare institution, or a combination thereof, in fields related to animal health, consumer goods, over-the-counter (OTC) products, pharmaceuticals, healthcare, or similar areas.
- Working knowledge of some relevant Codes of Practices, Canadian legislations and regulations pertaining to a regulated environment, Antitrust, Data Protection, Anti-bribery Anti-corruption.
- Excellent organization, time management, and written/verbal communication skills
- Strong attention to detail and excellent Project Management skills.
- Strong interpersonal; skills and ability to build strong relationships with peers and stakeholders.
- Organized with systematic approach to prioritization and operational excellence.
- Process orientated to achieve the business objective.
- Logical, accurate, analytical and numerically competent.
- Has a demonstrated can-do attitude and winning spirit to find solutions with strong problem solving and issue resolution skills.
- Able to work independently and deliver results with minimal supervision.
- Computer skills (i.e. MS Office, Outlook, PowerPoint, Word, Excel, Adobe Suite), and familiar with digital technologies.
- Strong negotiations skills
- Ability to work collaboratively with internal and external customers. Adapts to changing conditions and drives accountability and results.
