General Industries
The Associate Broker, General Industries provides technical and administrative support to the broking team in servicing commercial clients across diverse industry sectors. This role supports the renewal and marketing process, policy documentation and day-to-day client servicing. It offers exposure to all stages of the broking cycle and opportunities for professional growth within a collaborative team environment.
Role Description
Key Accountabilities
Client & Policy Servicing
- Assist with the preparation of renewal documents, proposals, summaries of insurance, certificates, binders and other client deliverables
- Support client onboarding and renewal processes by gathering underwriting information, preparing applications and updating internal systems
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date client records and policy documentation
- Coordinate with internal teams (e.g. Claims, Accounting, Compliance) to ensure seamless client service and issue resolution
Marketing & Placement
- Prepare marketing submissions for insurers and assist with the placement process under the direction of a senior broker
- Assist in negotiation and placement of coverage under the guidance of a Client Executive
- Track carrier responses, compile quote comparisons, and support the development of recommendation reports
- Participate in insurer meetings and internal strategy discussions as needed
Technical Support & Administration
- Review and process policy documentation, endorsements and invoicing with a high degree of accuracy
- Contribute to the preparation of benchmarking and loss summary reports
- Track and monitor key dates and service deliverables to ensure timely follow-up and execution
Experience Requirements
- 4+ years of experience in commercial insurance, preferably within a brokerage environment
- Experience supporting mid-market or large commercial accounts across multiple industries
- RIBO license
- CAIB, CIP or CRM designations are assets
- Working knowledge of property and casualty insurance products, policy documentation, and placement process
- Experience liaising with insurer and supporting client activities
- Proficient with Microsoft Office tools
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Collaborative team player with a proactive, service-oriented mindset
