Summary of Position

Trafalgar Castle School is a day and boarding School for girls. Located in Whitby, Ontario (close to the GO Station), we are a warm, diverse and progressive community who offers exceptional academics and prepares young women to make a difference in the world. Due to upcoming vacancy, we are looking for a talented Executive Director of Enrolment Management to provide leadership and management direction in the area of enrolment management, directly reporting to the Head of School.

The Executive Director is responsible for managing the admissions process, from lead generation to enrolment in terms of number of students, quality of students and level of student expectations/satisfaction. The Executive Director supervises, trains, and motivates the admissions staff to attain or surpass school enrolment goals; providing excellent customer service in order to recruit and increase the student population in accordance with the mission of the school.

Given the vibrant and collaborative nature of our school environment, this role is on-site, five days a week with some evening or weekend work as required.

You will be doing:

  • Developing and leading the admissions strategy and plan and offering input to the marketing plan to drive the school’s recruitment initiatives
  • Identifying and establishing connections with new potential markets to broaden the school’s outreach
  • Establishing the annual admissions targets for the school in conjunction with the CFO and Head of School
  • Monitors constituent satisfaction to enhance and raise retention rates
  • Identifying and researching target markets, and developing marketing strategies to enhance student applications, faculty and staff recruitment, fundraising, student and parent satisfaction, and reputation enhancement by developing communication products, methods and channels
  • Participation in the admission database and organization of data, using the admission database effectively to ensure useable data is available to support decision-making and optimal user experience
  • Leading communications with parent and alumnae groups to support the recruitment messages and activities
  • Representing the school at recruitment fairs, open houses and other events
  • Conducting interviews with potential students and their families
  • Oversee the Financial Aid and Awards Program, analyzing complex statistical reports and/or financial information for decision-making
  • Promote and develop strong working relationships and create networking opportunities with outside institutions or groups that can be helpful in attracting quality students (eg. school associations, international agents and consultants, etc.)
  • Manage the re-enrolment of current students for the succeeding year with constant monitoring of attrition and retention
  • Coordinate the projects and priorities of the Admissions Office staff including the supervision of admission team members.

You have:

  • University degree in a relevant field (e.g. public relations)
  • At least five years of relevant work experience, preferably in independent school admissions/enrolment management
  • Knowledge of and ability to apply independent school admission functions, processes, and policies
  • Excellent computer skills i.e. software (e.g. MS Office), Google apps suite and Google Analytics
  • Experience and knowledge of effective use of Blackbaud platform or other similar admission databases
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with a strong attention to detail.
  • Strong leadership and organization skills
  • Ability to build relationships and trust quickly and authentically
  • Experience managing a team of people
  • Experience managing a budget, including setting budgets and budgetary priorities, forecasting and meeting targets
  • Able to engage with a variety of constituents (students, parents, agents, faculty, alumni) from many different cultural backgrounds
  • Ability to conduct in-depth and detailed data analysis to inform nuanced decision-making in a competitive admission environment
  • Ability to develop and execute a plan, while remaining creative and flexible
  • Ability to be a strong advocate for the school

The range/starting amounts displayed on our job posting reflects the minimum and typical maximum target for new hire salaries for the position, it does not reflect the maximum salary for the role over time.
