Summary
The Mechanical Engineer’s primary responsibility will be to work with the team to produce engineering designs for various projects across Westpower’s suite of products. The position will work closely with our operations department to ensure that the designs are manufactured in a safe and profitable way. The successful incumbent will have a proven ability to manage projects in a timely manner and produce quality designs and documentation. The mechanical engineer will works closely with operations, sales, and the client to ensure all requirements are met.
Education, Skills, and Experience
- Minimum 5 years’ experience in a similar role.
- Mechanical Engineering Degree.
- Registered with APEGA as a P.Eng.
- Knowledge of pumps, rotating equipment, fabrication and structural skid design.
- Ability to prioritize multiple projects with close attention to detail.
- Experience in an industrial environment is an asset.
- Strong working knowledge of Solidworks.
Key Duties and Responsibilities
- Work as part of the engineering team to complete various design projects, ranging from individual component design to design of full equipment assemblies.
- Actively participate in the safety program working with teams to improve process and equipment safety.
- Produce and/or review various Engineering drawings for accuracy and completeness.
- Perform and/or review of engineering calculation related to designs of rotating equipment, structural skids and process piping.
- Assist in the management of BOMs for manufactured equipment to ensure information is available for operation teams.
- Work closely with operational teams to answer design questions and trouble shoot manufacturing.
- Review and address internal quality issues. Perform failure analysis and root cause investigations to help drive continuous improvement.
- Assist in review and resolution of customer related issues through quality process.
- Creation and/or review of customer facing engineering reports including authentication.
- Ensure timely completion of the entire process.
- Work with sales and operations team to ensure accurate quotations.
- All other job duties as required.
