Compensation: This is a paid contract position. The hourly rate will be based on the candidate’s experience and skill level. Each issue is estimated to require 10 hours of work.
Overview
On Screen Manitoba is seeking a bilingual Newsletter Coordinator to manage the production of In Focus, our bi-weekly newsletter.
The ideal candidate is a Francophone or bilingual communicator with strong writing skills in both French and English and a clear understanding of Manitoba’s media production industry. (Note: English-only candidates may be considered if they demonstrate exceptional writing ability and local industry knowledge.)
This contract role involves writing short bilingual news snippets, selecting photos, formatting layout and publishing in MailChimp, in collaboration with On Screen Manitoba’s Membership and Communications Specialist.
Responsibilities
- Manage the production process for In Focus newsletter, released every two weeks
- Research and gather timely news from Manitoba and the national media production industry
- Write concise newsletter blurbs in French and English
- Work closely with OSM’s Membership and Communications Specialist to align content and tone
- Select and format visuals (cropping, resizing, basic editing in Canva)
- Format content in MailChimp
- Upload and schedule publication
Qualifications
- Strong writing and editing skills in French and English. Francophone or fully bilingual candidates preferred; strong English-only candidates may be considered.
- Knowledge of Manitoba’s media production industry
- Awareness of national industry developments (e.g., CRTC, CMF, Telefilm, festivals)
- Experience using MailChimp and Canva
- Consistent, deadline-driven workflow across multi-step process
- Organized, detail-oriented and self-directed
- Previous experience in newsletter production or industry communications is an asset

On Screen Manitoba leads, builds and represents the media production industry in Manitoba, Canada.
As a non-profit provincial industry association, the On Screen Manitoba membership includes individuals (producers, writers, directors and other industry professionals), labour organizations (ACTRA, DGC, IATSE 856), production companies, service suppliers (material, equipment, professional services, etc.), training organizations, film festivals and other stakeholders, representing some 2000 industry professionals. Our members produce all types of content in English, French and Indigenous languages and they have access to some of the best production incentives in Canada.
Building a positive filming environment in Manitoba is essential to the long-term success of our industry. On Screen Manitoba partners and collaborates with organizations both in the province and from across Canada to improve working conditions, support workforce development, attract new workers, and celebrate accomplishments.
