About the role

Job Description Position: ASIC CAD Co-op/Intern

Number of Position(s): 1

Duration: 12 Months

Date: September 2nd, 2025 to August 28, 2026

Location: Ottawa, Canada

EDUCATIONAL RECOMMENDATIONS Currently a candidate for a bachelor's or master's in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or a related field with an accredited school in Canada.

How You Will Contribute And What You Will Learn

  • Collaborate with a world-class ASIC design team to develop cutting-edge chips for the Coherent Optics market.
  • Develop ASIC design flows and create scripts to automate various design processes.
  • Contribute to related design tasks as needed, including synthesis, rule checking, and other support activities.

Key Skills And Experience

  • Demonstrated ability to analyze and solve complex problems effectively and independently.
  • Proficient in Python and/or other programming or scripting languages, with hands-on experience.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills, with a collaborative approach to teamwork.

It would be nice if you also had:

  • Coursework or prior experience in ASIC design is considered an asset.
  • Familiarity with Synopsys Electronic Design Automation (EDA) tools is beneficial.
  • Understanding of Verilog or SystemVerilog is advantageous.
  • Exposure to machine learning and/or neural networks is a plus.
