Job Description
Reporting to the Manager, Analytics, as the BI Business Systems Analyst, you’ll play a vital role in bridging business needs with technical solutions. You’ll collaborate with stakeholders and the data team to understand business requirements and support the development of dashboards and data products that provide meaningful insights. You’ll support BI projects from requirements through UAT and help ensure that solutions are aligned with business goals and built with clarity, usability, and impact in mind. This role is a contract opportunity and based in a hybrid setting out of our Mississauga office location.
Compensation: CAD 45-55 per hour
Job Responsibilities
Requirements Gathering and Analysis
- Work with business users, BI developers, and other analysts to gather and document business requirements for new initiatives or enhancements.
- Conduct process mapping and document business processes and rules from a user perspective and identify the gaps and recommend opportunities for process improvement.
- Assist in creating data flow diagrams and documenting business rules across various systems and workflows.
- Develop and maintain Business Requirements Documents (BRDs), process flow diagrams, and user stories.
- Collaborate with senior analysts and project managers to clarify scope and manage requirement traceability.
- Facilitate discussions with stakeholders to ensure understanding of current state and desired future state.
BI Projects support
- Support business case development and presentation for steering meetings.
- Contribute to high-level technical solutions discussions.
- Perform data analysis using SQL queries to understand source data characteristics.
- Perform data profiling on new data sources.
- Build and review test plans and ensure test strategies.
- Ensure test cases align to business requirements.
- Support the alignment of BI projects to business goals.
- Provide support to defect review and resolution.
- Participate in QA and UAT activities and document feedback from stakeholders.
- Assist in developing BI wireframes (mockups) to guide dashboard/report design.
Collaboration and Communication

Work closely with BI Developers, Architects, and other team members to translate business needs into technical solutions.

Keep project team informed of problems, issues, and resolutions, being the liaison between the Analytics team and business users.

Coordinate meetings, capture decisions, and track follow-ups to ensure progress.

Share knowledge and best practices with peers and contribute to team learning.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in business, computer science, computer engineering, electrical engineering, system analysis or a related field of study, or equivalent experience.
- 5 years of experience as a BSA, with a focus on BI, analytics, or data-driven projects.
- Strong analytical skills with the ability to collect, organize, analyze, and disseminate significant amounts of information with mindfulness and accuracy.
- Proficiency in business analysis tools and techniques, such as process mapping, data analysis, and requirement gathering.
- Experience working on cross-functional project teams in an Agile or hybrid environment.
- Familiarity with SQL and experience performing data analysis and data profiling.
- Experience with Power BI would be an asset.
- Ability to develop and prepare technical specifications and documentation.
- Experience in a consulting or client-facing environment is a plus.
- Excellent written, verbal, communication, and presentation skills with the ability to articulate innovative ideas and concepts to technical and non-technical audiences.
