About the Role
We are seeking an experienced accountant to join our Finance team with a primary focus on
Accounts Payable and month-end close activities. This role is key to maintaining accurate
financial records, ensuring timely vendor payments, and supporting financial reporting and audit
processes.. The position requires that you have excellent interpersonal skills and are a
collaborative individual who likes to put forward suggestions and ideas on how to improve the
status quo. This individual will have a strong sense of ownership and accountability and a
passion for working in a dynamic, entrepreneurial environment.
Job Responsibilities
Accounts Payable:
- Process invoices accurately and efficiently in the accounts payable system, ensuring
- compliance with internal controls and organizational policies.
- Ensure timely and accurate processing of payments, including checks, EFTs, and other
- payment methods.
- Reconcile vendor statements monthly to identify and resolve discrepancies in a timely
- manner.
- Respond promptly to vendor inquiries and internal AP-related questions from
- management or other departments.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to resolve AP issues and improve workflow.
Month-End Close & Financial Reporting:
- Complete month-end accruals and prepaid amortizations to ensure accurate financial
- reporting.
- Assist with bank and credit card reconciliations as part of the month-end close process.
- Prepare supporting schedules and working files for audits and internal reviews.
- Prepare and maintain payment schedules for payables
- Prepare and maintain necessary documentation to respond to requests from auditors.
- Assist in ensuring compliance with internal controls, accounting standards and company
- policies.
Other Responsibilities:
- Promote a positive, productive, and collaborative work environment.
- Perform other related duties as assigned to support the accounts payable and finance
- functions.
Qualifications and Essential Skills
- Diploma/Degree in Business/Commerce, Finance, or Accounting (or equivalent
- experience)
- 5 years post-education work experience
- Knowledge of handbook (US GAAP), tax regulations
- Experience with Microsoft Dynamics (Business Central), accounts payable systems and
- cloud based accounting systems (Quickbooks and Netsuite) is an asset
- Sound analytical thinking, planning, prioritization, and execution skills
