Job Title: Manager, Communications and Marketing
Reports to: Director, Communications and Marketing
Type: Permanent, Full Time
Closing Date: July 21, 2025
The Opportunity
Reporting to the Director, Communications & Marketing, the Manager, Communications and Marketing maintain, develops, and leads WAA internal and external communications and marketing. The incumbent will be responsible for the management, oversight, and guidance of employees in this area and for establishing department priorities aligned with WAA’s strategic direction.
The Manager, Communications and Marketing will be responsible for building and maintaining relationships with relevant WAA stakeholders and will have discretionary decision-making authority concerning matters of operational importance to WAA. This role will provide input, guidance, advice, strategic direction, fiscal, and resource planning to WAA.
The Manager, Communications and Marketing will oversee WAA’s internal communications across the entire group of companies, will be responsible for external communications including social media and media relations, and will oversee marketing initiatives and campaigns. This position may be called upon to act as the official spokesperson for WAA when required.
Responsibilities include:
- Tell WAA’s story and market its offerings by using existing communication channels and develop innovative, new ways based on industry best practices
- Elevate WAA’s social media in line with the company’s strategic priorities
- Lead the Communications and Marketing Team in the development and implementation of an integrated communications and marketing strategy and plan that delivers on the company’s vision, mission, and values
- Lead the measurement of communications and marketing activities to show impact aligned with business goals
- Development of business strategies and plans to drive improvements to departmental efficiency and customer satisfaction
- Act as subject matter expert in communications and marketing
- Develop service level deliverables for the department and create and monitor key performance indicators to evaluate performance to customers
- Responsible for the financial management of the department including preparation of the departmental budget and ongoing monthly monitoring of costs
- Coordinate and manage resources for day-to-day communication and marketing activities
- Oversee the development and implementation of communication and marketing initiatives
- Confer regularly with counterparts at other airports and represent WAA at industry events and conferences
- Provide guidance and leadership to staff, consultants, and others in WAA on matters relating to internal and external communications and marketing
- Host regular and ad hoc briefings with stakeholders as required
- Responsible for setting performance expectations, objectives, goals, conducting regular performance discussions and annual performance appraisals and meetings
Selection Criteria include:
- University degree and/or college diploma in relevant field and/or equivalent experience.
- Minimum seven (7) years’ experience working with digital and traditional media.
- Previous management experience
- Budgeting and cost management skills
- Exceptional oral and written communications skills
- Excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to collaborate with cross-functional business partners to achieve results
- Resourcefulness and the ability to manage multiple initiatives with strong prioritization skills.
- Flexibility and willingness to take on additional or new responsibilities
- Ability to motivate others to achieve goals and objectives in a time-sensitive environment
Preferred:
- Experience leading a communications and marketing team
- Experience developing and/or managing communications and marketing materials that are fully accessible
- Bilingual (French-English) competency, in particular written skills, considered an asset
