About the role

Responsibilities Position Summary: The Delivery Merchandiser is responsible for the efficient and safe reception of products at restaurants while ensuring proper storage practices and product integrity. Their core responsibilities include managing the delivery process, overseeing product rotation and storage, and ensuring adherence to food safety standards. This role is essential to maintain quality service, achieve performance goals, and facilitate effective communication between Martin Brower and restaurant teams.

Position Type/Duration: 6 months contract to start Position Responsibilities may include, but not limited to: Customer Communication and Education

  • Professionally represent Martin Brower to the restaurant through positive interactions

Data Management

  • Support meeting MB team KPI’s and targets that drive a change in the restaurants and/or internal team behaviors

Internal Team support

  • Collaborate with Distribution Center leadership teams to determine priorities based on data gathering and observations when in restaurant
  • Execute on MB team support plans inclusive of restaurant inventory practice review

Pre-Delivery

  • Rotate and consolidate all products in each storage location in preparation for new products coming on the delivery
  • Keep pick-slots full; replenish line and flow racks
  • Place all product in proper pick-slots, never set product off to the side or outside the assigned temperature zones
  • Provide a clear travel path from the delivery door to freezer/cooler/dry areas
  • To ensure proper dock flow, work with restaurant crew team in directing the activities of the put away team
  • Ensure bun trays, dairy crates & dry pallets are sorted, clean and ready for MB driver pick up

Delivery

  • Safely deliver all containers (frozen, refrigerator & dry) into the proper temperature zone
  • Ensure temperature-controlled product is moved into the appropriate temperature zone immediately (maximum of 10 minutes) per delivery blueprint to maintain product integrity / ensure food safety
  • Buns are to be moved directly from the Martin-Brower truck into the restaurant freezer
  • Probe product as required per McDonald’s QA guidelines once product is inside the freezer or cooler
  • Inspect product for damage & record temperatures and code dates on the invoice
  • Under no circumstances is product to be left unattended through the delivery process
  • Resolve any receiving issues before the end of delivery process

Putaway

  • Perform put away duties: ensuring accurate put away of all products
  • Rotate product in racks before placing newer product into a slot
  • Ensure to receive sign off from restaurant manager on product count/accuracy
  • Return lighting to prior settings, if needed, then exit and secure the building

General Responsibilities

  • Check and evaluate work against quality standards
  • Ensure work area is always kept clean
  • Organize own work to maximize safety and efficiency. Identify and correct potentially unsafe situations and conditions
  • Conduct delivery audit checks at designated restaurants
  • Restaurant data gathering to better support the needs of the restaurant, gather information on inventory- sizes of fridges, freezers, doors for data gathering
  • Log diagram validation: determine if any changes have occurred around the truck parking area, i.e. fence- lights- signs, etc.
  • Perform all other related duties as assigned

Scope of Supervision and Authority

  • Responsibilities are performed with minimum supervision and communication from the Restaurant Manager
  • Ensure the operations follow all Safe Food for Canadians Regulations (SFCR), Global Food Safety Initiative (GFSI) and Good Warehouse Practices (GWP)/Good Drivers Practices (GDP) for transport rules and regulations
  • Other projects or duties as assigned

Qualifications Required Skills and Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in business, engineering, logistics or related field with 0-1+ years’ experience in merchandising, stock clerk, customer relations, or a related field OR High School Diploma with 2-3+ years of related experience
  • Must be able to work in a cold or freezer environment
  • Able to repetitively lift and move heavy boxes (up to 55lbs)
  • Great work ethic, high initiative, self-motivation, and positive attitude
  • Ability to multi-task, time management skills, meticulous
  • Effective problem-solving skills Minimum 3 years’ experience in hospitality, customer relations, supply chain or a related field
  • Proficient communication (verbal & written) and presentation skills
  • Must possess intermediate analytical, interpersonal, and problem-solving skills in addition to being a team player
  • Ability to effectively manage internal and external customer needs in rapidly changing conditions
  • This position must pass a post-offer background check

Preferred Skills and Experience:

  • Warehouse experience in high-volume, food service, distribution or logistics or equivalent experience is an asset
  • Electric pallet jack experience is an asset
