About the Role:
Reporting to the Controller, the Finance Manager is responsible for providing support to the Regions and Central Administration management. Responsibilities may include:
- Through actions, supports the Mission, Vision, Values, Principles, Policies and Procedures of Kerry’s Place
- Accountable for the adherence to all Accounting and standard business practices as well as ensuring that all relevant legislation is effectively applied
- Assesses the Regions and Central Administration performance against both the annual budget and company’s long-term strategy and identifies areas of inconsistencies, making appropriate recommendations
- Develops tools and systems to provide critical financial and operational information to management and makes actionable recommendations on both strategy and operations
- Engages the appropriate Finance team members around issues, trends, and changes in the operating model(s) and operational delivery
- Prepares, analyses and maintains financial planning reports including operating budgets, capital budgets, cash flow forecasts and surplus and deficit reports, working closely with the VPs and Directors.
- Prepares and submits timely and accurate monthly, quarterly and annual submissions to the Ministries that support Kerry’s Place, including the Transfer Payment Account Reconciliations and the Annual Information Returns
- Assists the Controller in preparing board and other reports that properly disclose key operating issues, including variances to plans and forecasts. Assist with the development and communication of appropriate responses to these issues
- Assist in the execution of business initiatives (e.g., opening new operations, asset acquisition and new service launches)
- Apply a continuous improvement approach to activities, models and reports to provide insights into Kerry’s Place operations, opportunities and challenges
- Complete asset management activities such as vehicle logs and related reporting
- Ensures timeliness, accuracy, and usefulness of financial and management reporting for funders, foundations, and the organizations board of directors
- Complete all month-end closing activities including general ledger maintenance, balance sheet reconciliations and corporate/overhead cost allocation
- Enhances and implements financial and accounting systems, processes, tools and control systems
- Serves as the final point of escalation for accounts receivable/accounts payable issues
- Participates in the Procurement Process at the stages specified in the processes, ensuring that all procedural and legal requirements have been met
- Other duties as assigned
Education Qualifications:
- A University degree in related field is required;
- CPA preferred
Knowledge and Experience Requirements:
- Minimum five years accounting experience as a senior accountant, preferably in a nonprofit organization with a budget of at least $7 million, or equivalent business experience and 10+ years of experience in a large company or division of a large corporation
- Experience in a financial-management role, partnering with management staff
- Working knowledge of related legislation and regulations
- Advanced spreadsheet knowledge
- French language skills will be considered an asset
Working Conditions/Physical Requirements:
- Ability to work independently and effectively with minimal supervision and within prescribed timelines
- Ability to be flexible and motivated in dealing with a fluctuating and unpredictable workload

Welcome to Kerry’s Place Autism Services. We are Canada’s largest service provider to families with children, adolescents, and adults, with Autism Spectrum Disorder.
Since 1974 Kerry’s Place has been creating, and providing evidence-based supports and services across the province of Ontario that enhance the quality of life of those with ASD.

With staff numbering more than 1200, Kerry’s Place is one of the only organizations in the country that serves the entire life span of those with ASD.
Through the Ontario Autism Program, we provide children and youth - and their families - a menu of timely, evidence-based services needed to achieve their goals at home, at school, and within their communities. This initiative serves individuals with ASD up to age 18, delivering skill-building groups, individual consultation, and family support.
We provide numerous Community Services and Supports, including our day and overnight respite options to provide a well-deserved break for families with loved ones with Autism, along with our many camps and leisure groups.
Our Adult Skill-Building and Peer Support Groups broaden the social circle for every individual we support. Our Employment Programs lend assistance to young adults with Autism to help develop skills that lead to meaningful employment opportunities.
We provide adults with ASD Residential and Semi-Independent Living Supports at 90 distinct properties across Ontario. Our group living approach provides a safe, 24 hour, home environment where residents are encouraged to pursue their own personal goals including outings into the community, employment, and an array of interests. Many of our residence grow with Kerry’s Place, spending upwards of 30 years with us. And through a lifetime of shared pursuits and generational experiences, we too, grow with them.
