About the role
We are seeking a proactive and experienced Health and Safety Manager to lead and manage our national safety program. This role is responsible for developing and implementing policies and procedures to achieve and maintain COR (Certificate of Recognition) certification, ensuring compliance with multi-jurisdictional health and safety legislation, and fostering a strong culture of safety across all operations in Canada.

Key Responsibilities
- Lead the development, implementation, and continuous improvement of the company’s occupational health and safety (OHS) program across multiple provinces.
- Oversee the organization’s efforts to achieve and maintain COR certification, including gap analysis, documentation, training, and internal audits.
- Create, update, and enforce health and safety policies and procedures aligned with OHSA, WSIB, CSA standards, and other provincial regulations.
- Maintain compliance with external contractor management platforms such as Avetta, ISNetworld, and other safety management systems.
- Investigate incidents, near-misses, and workplace injuries, ensuring timely reporting, root cause analysis, and implementation of corrective actions.
- Manage injury claims, return-to-work programs, and related administrative processes.
- Serve as the primary liaison for leadership and employees on all EHS matters, providing training, coaching, and compliance support.
- Monitor and ensure compliance with local, provincial, and federal legislation across Canada, including cross-provincial safety law variations.
- Develop and deliver national safety training programs, toolbox talks, and internal communications to promote a proactive safety culture.
- Track and report on key safety performance indicators (KPIs), audit findings, and continuous improvement initiatives.
- Travel to job sites and office locations across Canada as needed.
Qualifications
- Post-secondary education in Occupational Health and Safety, Environmental Science, Engineering, or a related field.
- CRSP, CHSC, or equivalent certification preferred.
- Minimum 8 years of progressive experience in health and safety roles, ideally within construction, engineering, or consulting environments.
- Proven experience with COR certification processes and multi-jurisdictional compliance.
- Strong knowledge of OHSA, WSIB, WHMIS, JHSC, and other Canadian safety standards.
- Excellent leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, incident tracking software, and compliance platforms.
