Dept/Health System: THP-UHN RCC, Rehab, Transitional Services & CCC Program
Hours of Work/Shifts: 8H days M-F with rotational work on weekend and statutory holidays as operational needs require (0800-1600H but may consider flexibility for start and end times)

About Our Unit 3West is a 48-bed specialized unit comprised of rehab patients.
We are a skilled group of rehabilitation healthcare professionals who strive for excellence in providing compassionate, patient-centered care. Our goal-focused therapy guides our patients in their journey to independence and reintegration into community. Our team works diligently towards improving the physical, cognitive and communication problems caused by an injury or illness. We work with our patients to improve their quality of life and support their desire to return to meaningful activities.
Our patient’s success is optimized by self-motivation, active participation and family support.
Position Summary
- As an active member of a multidisciplinary team, the dual trained OTA/PTA provides client-centered clinical care for assigned patients under the direction and supervision of a Physiotherapist and Occupational Therapist.
- Provides goal-oriented treatment interventions, patient/family education and support to address physical, emotional and self-care needs as assigned
- Provides timely and astute information to relevant team members about patient’s performance
- The ability to perform as a coach/mentor and to use sound critical thinking skills is key to achieving patient outcomes and to facilitating team function
- Participates in program planning, continuous quality improvement and evaluation
- Supervise activities of OTA/PTA students, volunteers and co-op students as required
Key Qualifications, Skills and Abilities:
- Diploma from a recognized two year OTA/PTA Program
- Experience with in-patient rehabilitation is an asset
- Current BCLS and evidence of continuing education is required
- Reliable, flexible, creative, self-directed professional with strong observation skills
- Demonstrated ability to work effectively and collaboratively with multidisciplinary team members
- Confident, overseeing exercise and functional activity
- Exercises good judgment, critical thinking and problem solving skills
- Demonstrates effective interpersonal, organizational and communication skills
- A positive attendance record is essential
