Organization: Yukon First Nation’s Wildfire (YFNW)
Position Type: Full-time
Start Date: Immediate
Salary Range: $85,000 – $95,000 annually (based on experience)
Yukon First Nation’s Wildfire (YFNW) is seeking a highly motivated and experienced Financial Controller to join our team. This full-time position offers an exciting opportunity to support a dynamic, growing organization grounded in Indigenous values, operational excellence, and community impact.
Key Responsibilities:
This is a hands-on role that covers the full spectrum of financial management—from high-level strategy to day-to-day detail. Responsibilities include:
- Overseeing all financial operations, including budgeting, forecasting, and reporting
- Managing the day-to-day financials: processing payroll, accounts payable/receivable, and bank reconciliations
- Entering and organizing receipts, invoices, and supporting documents
- Supporting project-based tracking and financial reporting
- Preparing financial statements and liaising with auditors
- Ensuring compliance with regulations and internal controls
- Contributing to strategic financial planning and organizational decision-making
Qualifications:
- Strong experience in financial management, accounting, or bookkeeping—CPA designation is welcome but equivalent hands-on experience is equally valued
- Strong background in day-to-day bookkeeping and accounting practices
- Highly organized with strong attention to detail
- Comfortable working independently while being an active part of a collaborative, in-office team environment, with potential for remote work
- Experience using the following tools:
- QuickBooks
- Payworks
- Plooto
- Microsoft Office (especially Excel, Outlook, Word)

We are also committed to incorporating traditional knowledge and supporting the growth of Yukon’s future leaders in consultation with community elders. Currently, YFNW excels in our communities through our wildfire response programs and our training programs for wildland firefighters. We are growing to expand our services into more areas within the wildfire management environment in order to build community resilience in the Yukon.
