About the role

PARTNER RELATIONS DIVISION

PURPOSE SUMMARY

As a member of the Middle Gifts Team within the Philanthropic Engagement Department, this role is responsible to develop and maintain relationship with a portfolio of mid-level Donors for the purpose of forming collaborative partnerships benefitting each partners’ missional goals and seeking to achieve the activity & acquisitional goals of the team & organization.

This position reports to the Philanthropy Manager – Middle Gifts, functions within a regionally focused team of peer relationship development professionals and is specifically tasked with executing

outbound, multi-product mid-level donor development activity toward the overarching mission of releasing children from poverty in Jesus’ name.

WHAT YOU DO MATTERS

TASKS & RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Under the leadership of the Philanthropy Manager – Middle Gifts, develop and maintain a portfolio of mid-level donors for the purpose of fostering collaboration and attending to the resource needs of Compassion’s programmatic activities: Sponsorship, Survival, and Complementary Interventions.
  • Thank mid-level supporters for their contributions and communicate the impact of their donations through verbal, written, and other forms of communication.
  • Determine giving capacity and affinity of individual donors in the portfolio and deliver tailored stewardship strategies to match.
  • Develop and present uniquely targeted giving opportunities through phone calls, written correspondence and in-person visits where appropriate.
  • Maximize relational engagement and retention through personal contact, engagement pieces, and deliver reporting on donations.
  • When donor capacity/interest indicates that the relationship would benefit, transition relationship to a Regional Relationship Manager (Major Donor Level).
  • Regularly update Corporate Customer Relationship Management database with all relational activities completed and expected upcoming.
  • Under the leadership of the Philanthropy Manager – Middle Gifts, regularly review current activity and acquisition reports related to your portfolio and attend to notable trends.
  • In consultation with the Philanthropy Manager – Middle Gifts, participate in the refinement, execution, and improvement of relational engagement strategies based on ‘real world’ experience and proven best practices.
  • Attend to maintaining up-to-date and accurate knowledge of programmatic activity and international development trends in order to comprehensively represent Compassion to relationships.
  • Manage and submit reports for personal expenses, time sheets, and domestic travel.
  • Carry out additional responsibilities and projects as assigned.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES

  • Self-starter attitude and aptitude balanced with an ability to function well as part of a dynamic interdisciplinary and cross-functional team.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication, planning, organizational, interpersonal, and analytical skills.
  • Eagerness to find new and creative ways to increase Compassion’s influence.
  • Expertise in fundraising, mid-level gift strategies, and portfolio management.
  • Proven ability to ask for and receive donations.
  • Honesty and integrity, ability to be discreet and confidential.
  • Able to effectively engage with a diverse portfolio of donors.
  • Ability to work at an advanced level with a variety of systems, including desktop and online applications, databases, report writing applications, and CRM software.
  • Strong administrative skills and not deterred by clerical work.

WHAT YOU BRING MATTERS

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE

  • 3-5 years of professional experience in a related role is an asset.

WORKING CONDITIONS

As such, we will continue placing a strong emphasis on our remote staff experience, and distributed workforce culture, while leaning into a ‘work from anywhere’ reality that prioritizes:

  • Remote-First Employment: All staff who are not in-office essential default to remote work and are classified as Remote Workplace Staff or Telecommuting Workplace Staff depending on their distance to the Compassion building.
  • Digital-First Engagement: Staff Gatherings will continue to prioritize the remote/online experience.
  • Travel and Overtime may be required.
