Systems Analyst (9-months)
Top Benefits
About the role
- This role is a 9-month opportunity with the possibility of extension. *
The Opportunity As far back as you can remember, you’ve always had a passion for technology. Even at a young age, you’d be the one helping your parents figure out the new phone (and new TV remote, etc…you get the picture). And the moment you first sat down at a computer; you knew it was true love. You’re passionate about supporting applications but also analyzing what’s working and what isn’t, because to you, there’s magic in making things run smoothly.
A Place to Belong AMA is more than a workplace; it’s a family. Together, we help protect the things that matter most to our more than one-million members—everything from roadside safety to retail savings, food security to childhood well-being. And with operations that span automotive, registries, travel, insurance and more, the opportunities to grow with us are almost limitless!
About Building on a century of proud service in Alberta communities, we’re passionate about making a meaningful difference in the places where we live and work. And that all begins with our people. As part of the AMA team, you’ll enjoy:
- Competitive wage
- Employee-exclusive discounts on travel, insurance, memberships, and more
- Ongoing professional development
- Vacation earnings paid out with each pay period
- Flexible work models that make sense for your lifestyle
Who You Are

- You genuinely love interacting with people and finding ways to make a difference in their day.
- You have strong written and verbal communication skills and the uncanny ability to get your point across in a way that everyone understands.
- You’re a master juggler — of projects, that is. Seriously, you’ve got some mad multi-tasking and prioritization skills, but never let a tight timeline impact on your high-quality results.
- Your favorite noun is teamwork – working well with others comes as naturally to you as breathing, but you don’t mind working solo either.
- You never need to be told what to do…when you see something that needs doing, you get on it!
- You’re a lifelong learner who picks up new things quickly. And we like that about you.
- You’re both a right-and-left-brained thinker. Your innovative side is balanced by your quantitative analytical abilities.
- You’ve never met a problem you couldn’t solve.
How You’ll Make An Impact
- Report to the Team Lead, Enterprise Applications (support a number of Commercial off-the-shelf applications)
- You’ll participate in change, supporting a culture of continual improvement.
- You’ll contribute to feedback loops within the team, department and organization to improve efficiency and remove non-value adding tasks within the Enterprise Applications team.
- You’ll develop, test and maintain a variety of automation scripts that address large initiatives under the instruction of senior team members.
- You’ll adhere to documentation on application security operating procedures and protocols, considering security at all stages of operation.
- You’ll participate in evaluation of new products, tools and technology that could address both known and unknown organizational needs.
- Under the direction of senior team members, you’ll explore areas appropriate for further study.
- You’ll participate in executing Proof of Concept projects and tasks.
- You’ll participate in the testing, documentation, and implementation of software releases.
- You’ll prepare code for Peer Review according to AMA standards.
- You’ll set up automated testing, monitoring and alerting when applicable.
- You’ll participate in activities related to the design, development and maintenance of the AMA’s applications.
- You’ll contribute to activities related to the design, development and maintenance of AMA’s enterprise architecture.
- You’ll help administer, monitor, measure, and improve applications across the organization.
- You’ll identify problem resolutions to address root causes to minimize any repeat incidents.

About AMA - Alberta Motor Association
AMA is a multi-service organization representing 1 million Albertans. While most often known for our roadside assistance program, we also offer travel, registries and insurance services, Alberta’s largest driver education school, a member rewards program and member events in our communities. Part of the CAA and AAA family, we’re focused on our member’s needs and guided by their values to provide products, services and advocacy to help them live confidently.
Anyone here will tell you that we’re a different kind of employer, and it all comes down to how we treat our members - and each other. We've boiled it down to just two words: Practically Family. That’s not just a catchy phrase, we live it every day through simple gestures.
Practically Family is the web developer heading off shift who stops to help a team member carry items in the door, the insurance advisor who uses their break to pick up an extra coffee for a co-worker who’s having a bad day, or the registries agent who takes the time to help a member put their new licence plate on their vehicle. Not to mention all the birthday parties, free food days and wedding showers we throw for each other!
Taking care of one another, encouraging one another. It’s what family does, and what being Practically Family is all about. If you can picture yourself answering yes to the question, “Am I treating this member or colleague like a close family member or friend?” with every interaction, you’re our kind of people!
