About the role

Job Description Description: The Northern Health Region is currently seeking 2 Anesthesiologists (Specialist or Family Practice Anesthesiologists) to practice in a multidisciplinary environment inThompson, Manitoba. The positions require at minimum one week in-community assignments on a rotational basis with call duties. The Northern Health Region is geographically the largest of the five Regional Health Authorities in the province of Manitoba and has a population of 72,000 people spread over 396,000 km², resulting in a population density of 0.18 persons per km². Mining, hydro-electric development, forestry, commercial fishing, trapping, transportation and tourism are the major industries in the Region.

Qualifications The candidate:

  • Must be eligible for full licensure with the College of Physicians & Surgeons of Manitoba.
  • Candidates with Royal College Certification are preferred.
  • Family Practice Anesthetists (FPA) must have a Certificate of Added Competency in Family Practice Anesthesia from a recognized University.

Compensation Generous remuneration with guaranteed income through alternative funding.

Practice Location: This position is located at the Thompson General Hospital in Thompson, Manitoba. The City of Thompson, known as the “Hub of the North”, is located 740 kilometers north of Winnipeg, and serves as the regional trade and service centre of Northern Manitoba. With a population of approximately 15,000 residents, Thompson boasts all of the amenities of an urban centre as well as the beauty of the surrounding lakes and Boreal Forest.
