Posting #: 2025-49 Title: Utility I Labourer - Public Works (Full Time) Department: Public Works and Parks Operations Duties: The incumbent in this class assists management to achieve efficient operation of the Operations Department through reliable performance of Public Works Utility I duties observing and complying with municipal policies and practices.
The incumbent in this class will be required to perform all non and semi-skilled tasks associated with labourer duties; cutting grass, flagging, loading equipment, repairing fences, cleaning streets, removing garbage, using manual tools, laying pipes, digging, etc. The incumbent will perform other related tasks as assigned. Assignments are performed under general supervision and performance is subject to review, inspection and evaluation by the Supervisor III - Public Works. Education: Must have grade 8 education with a minimum of two (2) years experience in the labourer force - OR - an equivalent combination.
Must be in possession of a valid B.C. Driver's Licence.
Skills: -Able to establish and maintain a good working relationship with other staff members;
- Able to recognize and rectify and/or report upon actual or potential safety hazards;
- Able to perform manual work and lift heavy objects;
- Working knowledge of tools, equipment, procedures, principles and methods used in labourer work.
