The Municipal Pension Plan (MPP) is seeking a business development and relationship driven professional to join our team as the Director, Plan Growth and Partnership. This newly created role is central to our mission of expanding access to defined benefit pensions across the province. Bringing proven business development expertise, as the Director, Plan Growth and Partnership, you will spearhead the development and execution of innovative outreach and engagement strategies, cultivating long-term partnerships with new employers and stakeholders. You'll serve as a trusted advisor and subject matter expert, guiding prospective employers through the value and benefits of joining the MPP.
In this high-impact role, you'll lead the creation and implementation of key initiatives such as the Employer Outreach and Engagement Strategy. You'll work closely with executive level contacts, unions, and plan members to identify opportunities for growth, and represent the interests of the MPP. About the Team
The Office of the Municipal Pension Board of Trustees (Board Office) provides professional and operational services to the Municipal Pension Board of Trustees (Board), supporting trustees in meeting their governance and fiduciary obligations; carries out the day-to-day board operations; and serves as the key liaison between the board and plan partners, appointing authorities, agents, service providers, plan members and employers, and other stakeholders.
Responsibilities

Lead Vision and Strategy: Develop and implement high-impact outreach and engagement plans to drive new business growth.

Business Development: Identify and secure new partnerships, plan transfers, and expand reach to new employer segments.

Framework Development: Create and manage workplans, reporting, analytics, and risk assessments to prioritize key initiatives.

Innovation and Expansion: Lead consultations to represent MPP's interests and expand membership.

Relationship Management: Oversee existing relationships, support service needs, and engage plan members to raise awareness.

Problem Solving: Address complex issues with innovative solutions to ensure successful program delivery.

Leadership: Inspire and guide the expansion team to achieve their full potential with clear performance metrics.

Influence and Trust: Build and manage relationships to positively influence stakeholders towards MPP's goals.

RFP Management: Prepare responses to RFPs and discuss enrolment terms with employers.

Education and Presentation: Educate employers, unions, and members about MPP's value through various formats.

Advocacy: Explain MPP's benefits within the pension landscape of British Columbia.

Strategic Contributions: Support critical initiatives defined by senior leaders.
Qualifications
Must have
- Bachelor's degree in communication, public relations, business administration or the equivalent and a minimum of 7 years of related experience.
- Related experience must include the following:
- Client relations or business establishment or equivalent experience in the pension, investment, finance or insurance industry.
- Previous consultative sales and marketing experience are required
- Investigative and research skills; including sales projections and cost modelling
- Experience negotiating contracts and deals.
- Experience creating and making presentations with the capability of effectively influencing decision making.
- Experience with project management in a deadline-driven and complex environment.
- Experience managing multiple client engagements across a diverse range of clients and partners.
- Demonstrated experience using Microsoft Suite products, SharePoint, and in-house databases.
- Valid BC Driver's license.
- An equivalent combination of education, training and relevant experience may be considered.
Nice to have:
- 5 years of experience interpreting legislative requirements related to pension administration preferred.

Willingness Statements

Travel is necessary to meet the Corporation's operational needs, including overnight in both rural and urban areas.

This position may require working irregular hours, including occasional evenings and weekends.
