About the role

Job Summary

The Assistant plays a key role in supporting the daily operations of Parking Services, Campus Card, and other Ancillary Services by providing administrative, technical, and customer service support. Responsibilities include operating divisional software systems, supporting point-of-sale (POS) transactions, and preparing sales reports and financial deposits. The position also supports marketing efforts through social media management, website content updates, and the development of promotional strategies.

A strong emphasis is placed on collaboration, professionalism, and a commitment to inclusivity and reconciliation. The role requires responding to inquiries from students, staff, and faculty, as well as contributing to the implementation of new projects and systems.

Qualifications

  • Completion of a certificate in office administration or a job-related field from a recognized postsecondary institution.
  • Minimum three (3) years of related experience in a similar retail operation and office environment.
  • Office administration experience, preferably in a postsecondary, multi-cultural setting.
  • Excellent interpersonal and written communication, time management, and organizational skills.
  • Proven ability to work with minimal or no supervision, multi-task, and work to tight deadlines with conflicting priorities and the ability to work effectively in high demand situations.
  • Intermediate proficiency in Microsoft Office (particularly Excel), Adobe, and associated applications.
  • Demonstrated experience with Point of Sale systems.
  • Strong customer service orientation, with experience in a frontline or support role.
  • Ability to maintain and update websites using content management tools (e.g., WordPress; content management system) preferred.
  • Experience with monitoring, processing and tracking expenses.
  • Demonstrates strong organizational and time management skills, with the ability to quickly learn UFV specific computer programs, including parking management software, the Campus Card enterprise database, and website content management systems.
  • Familiar with public institution processes, procedures, and protocols.
  • Ability to work at multiple campus locations, as required, in addition to working flexible hours if required.
  • Able to stand for long periods of time.
