Special Needs Educational Assistant
About the role
Children's Autism Services of Edmonton is seeking casual Educational Assistants for our dynamic and growing organization. At Children’s Autism Services of Edmonton we provide family-centered services to meet the complex needs of children who have autism and other developmental disorders.
We are seeking a compassionate and dedicated Special Needs Educational Assistants to provide invaluable support to children with Autism and other developmental disorders . In this role, you will work closely with teachers, therapists, and other professionals to create a supportive learning environment that caters to the unique needs the child in the early education setting
Your role as an Educational Assistant will involve:
- Provide one-on-one or small group support to children to address their specific educational and behavioral needs
- Participating in professional development days
- Attending regular team meetings
- Working in a child focused, supportive environment
- Playing an active role in a child’s school routine, collaborating with teacher, parents and the professional team to help the child reach their goals
- Supporting children to foster independence in the classroom environment
- Assist with daily living tasks, including toileting, feeding, and self-care, if required.
- Ensure child's safety and well-being during the school day.
- This role will work in various schools throughout the city of Edmonton
Qualifications/Skills:
- Applicants should have experience working with or caring for children and experience with child development.
- Applicants must have a police information record check (including vulnerable sector), child intervention record check and First Aid & Level-C CPR.
- Applicants should possess a valid driver’s license and access to a vehicle.
- Valid drivers License Vehicle as asset.
